We have 3+ proven guys coming back, most teams don't have 2. Hoover, Reynolds, Kittredge and Drone plays a lot of snaps at DT. Throw in LT. And add the 2 injured soph DTs (knox & Scarpitino) + Fennell, and this position as of right now worries me not at all, and in fact gets me happy.

LT up to 300 lbs.
Hammock, Mills and Klatt not listed on the roster.
I am very worried about the interior D line. I was unimpressed with all of them last year. I'm hoping that LT develops in spring and fall camp and can be a contributor there.
Sort of wonder if that's what the coaches are really thinking, or if some motivating is going on.
Shoot, just noticed that about Hammock, really wanted him to be the man at FB. He and Mills are both guys who could start. And again, Mills still lists himself on the team, wondering if he has to make grades.
Also, sad thing is, we are over schollie limit...
New line coach leads to hope.
They kept our LBs clean all year. Pass rush wasn't up to par, but they were great against the run, and keep in mind, a number of teams employed quick passing game plans and rolling pockets against us to combat our aggressive DL. They were far more impressive than stats indicate, but lacked a Worthy performer/performance.
Notable weight losses/gains:
- Burbridge up 5lbs (190 to 195)
- Lippett down 5lbs (190 to 185)
- Gleichert up 5lbs (250 to 255)
- Hoebing up 18lbs (270 to 288) - Also moved from TE to LT
- Fowler down 6lbs (218 to 212)
- Cook up 7lbs (215 to 222)
- Pepper up 15lbs (185 to 200)
- Sadler up 5lbs (180 to 185)
- Calhoun up 8lbs (240 to 248)
- Hoover down 20lbs (310 to 290)
- LT up 5 lbs (295 to 300)
- Reynolds down 10lbs (318 to 308)
- T. Jones up 10 lbs (230 to 240)
- M. Bullough down 10 lbs (252 to 242)
- Lewis down 5 lbs (205 to 200)
Arnett has to be able to get on the field this year. I don't see how he's still losing out to Lippett and Fowler.
Probably a mix of both. And injuries lead to shuffles too. I like the Fonoti at LT idea though. He's our most mobile OT.
Both have a year of experience over him and he probably can't block. That said, none of our WRs could block so why not at least have him in there as a deep threat.
But he has no chance of playing LT at the next level. Also, France at OG is weird. First off, he's oversized for a OG. Second, are they just admitting after 2 years that his footwork was never there to play LT?
Lippett was the worst blocking WR I can remember in a Spartan uniform. He couldn't be any worse.
Yeah Fonoti being 6'4 basically nixes those chances. France actually did a great job against TCU's DEs, some of the best in the country. But then he got torched by Notre Dame (twice in a row now) and Wisconsin (although he was injured).
wow...what's up with that? I know we are wicked deep at safety but is he BIG enough to play LB?
im excited for football as anyone, but i wouldnt read much of anything into an initial spring depth chart...
Not that much smaller than Darien Harris. It's kind of like a coverage-heavy LB spot and they will adapt to him in particular packages if he even ends up playing.
According to him, he still seems to be on team. I am guessing he needs to make grades. He's still on campus, hanging with team, as you know.
Would like to see Madaris and Arnett getting time....hear nothing but good things about them and how they can make plays.
Also it is good to see all the depth at our db positions. Wonder how Cox feels being second again and could be behind him next year because drummond is a junior
To die in ann arbor is redundant
Considering the coaching staff has been saying all winter than Maxwell is going into the spring as the starter, you expected something different???
I understand all those except 2: 1) Lippett is DOWN 5? Kid is too skinny as it is: was hoping he'd be up 5-10....not good
2)Hoover: DOWN 10......maybe due to injury he wanted to get a little lighter but not really understanding that one either
exactly....which is why I don't understand the fact he's DOWN 5 lbs
I love this move. In 2011, Fonoti was excellent at pass protection, he has long arms for his height and he simply has great feet. He's well suited to play LT IMO.
Worried about Nick Hill being our sole running back. DA is a twig. Maxwell should not be the given starter I think it needs to be open to cook and Tyler.
Our defense will be scary.
Once again we will have the same result of last year. Our defense will keep us in the game but will the receivers catch the ball? and can we survive Hill at RB?
