5:36 Valentine checks in with Purdue at the line
After the free throw he runs over and pushes #3 to free up Appling, sure looked like a foul.
4:12 Valentine commits a foul, during the free throws he appears to be bitching at Harris.
4:04 Izzo calls the TO, on the way to the bench Valentine must have said something to the coaches, Stephens took offense.
Maybe Valentine is one of those guys that runs his mouth too much sometimes and Stephens just had enough.
Love the fact that it's Dawson of all people restraining him.
Anyone. Anyplace. Anytime.
Seriously nothing to see here. Pretty much the equivalent of grabbing a football player by his facemask to make sure you have his attention.
I am gravely disappointed. Again you have made me unleash my dogs of war.
Anyone have video?
. Apparently he did. Valentine thinks he's Magic minus the accuracy, BB IQ, and hard work. How does he question Izzo?
He panics out there and makes stupid turnovers. Izzo saw that deer-the-headlights look and called timeout. He obviously hasn't gained Izzo's trust in those situations.
Stephens pulled him aside to read him the riot act. Izzo still chewed that ego of his as well, but he put him back in the game. We need him to shut his mouth, drop the 'tude and PLAY Izzo ball.
The will to succeed is important, but what's more important is the will to prepare.
You sure are drawing a lot of conclusions from one incident. Izzo has repeatedly said that Valentine is a great kid and very coachable. This and TI himself has compared Denzel's game to Magic. Settle down.
I wish I had more downvotes. Denzel is a very good player and one of the best parts of his game is a strong basketball IQ
Tried to upload to YouTube but its not letting me from mobile.
Yep. A shitty ignorant post that gets challenged so then he puts up a mooning simile
From my vantage point Valentine is one of the most poised, intelligent Freshman to play under Izzo. Like all Freshmen, he makes the occasional turnover but he has made big strides over the course of the season while playing significant minutes. Izzo and the coaches have certainly taken a tough love stance towards him. I just think they know which players they can push that button with.
So, are we pro or anti Valentine at this point?
You read WAY too much into my post. I never said he didn't have good BB IQ or other skills. The fact that he has some of these attributes is why he's some times mentioned in the same breath as Magic. He has the potential based on his skills to be on of MSU's best PG's. My point is that he's not there yet, but he runs his mouth at times like it. He needs to shut his mouth and trust his coaches to continue to develop his skills.
I could say the same things about Dawson and Nix at times. It doesn't look good to see these guys talking back to Izzo and the other coaches even though Izzo allows them to talk to him. No one wants to see that.
I don't care how many down votes you come up with, it'll still be truth.
I'm impressed with Valentine. If a gigantic hand had me by the back of the neck I'd have crapped my pants. It didn't even phase Denzel, he just kept going back and forth with Izzo. Sure he's known the coaches for a long time, but for a true freshman he's pretty cocky. Nothing wrong with that.
The wild speculation-as-fact on this site amazes me sometimes. Perception is so easily skewed when someone is sitting in their comfy chair, drinking a beer and watching the game on TV.

How do you know he "runs his mouth"? You have no idea what the verbal exchanges are between him and Izzo or the other coaches. For all anyone of us know, maybe Izzo told him to be more verbal.
Nice!! Count me in!
DV has been improving steadily all year. People tend to forget that he is a true freshman.
I thought he was a redshirt...
Lol, I'm watching a BTN's replay of the game right now. Dude just walked up to Izzo with his gums flapping before the 15 minute mark of the second half.
I know because the cameras walk to the sideline as the players head to the bench for instruction. That's the whole point, these players come to MSU for basketball "instruction", not to coach Izzo.
I think you have Harris and Valentine confused. Valentine is anything but poised. He plays way too fast most of the time and consistently feels the need to leave his feet to make a pass. That being said, he is a tremendous talent with a lot of energy and once he learns to control his game a little bit, focus that energy more to the defensive end and make better decisions with the ball, he's going to be unstoppable.
Didn't we have a thread like this four years ago on Draymond Green?
Could you link to multiple incidents where he has run his mouth about being as good as Magic?
Yeah. Guys like Cleaves and Green never said anything back to Izzo. Izzo hates those kind of players.
