I don't care what ya'll say - Denzel's going to be a 4 year player, 3 year captain, and has a Draymond esque future.
You have NO idea what the verbal exchange is between Izzo and his players.
Sure looks familiar.
This! Izzo loves players that are not afraid to speak their mind. I have spoken to a few players about this, 2 of which were captains.
This thread has turned into bullshit. Denzel did nothing wrong. DJ crossed the line with grabbing him by the neck and nearly bending him over. and that is what we should be talking about.
What the hell are you talking about?
DJ didn't even approach "the line" here.
You act like he Bobby Knighted him. Ridiculous.
Wow, holy crap that was nothing.
Just watched the "incident" during the game replay on BTN. Nothing to see here, move on.
Whole lot of nothing. Just passionate people in the heat of the moment not crossing the line.
What do you mean "we," white man.
Well it was very negative body language which has been called out by announcers several times before when watching MSU games.
There have been other MSU players who were similarly frustrated with the coaches and the cameras caught it. Nix, Dawson,Chris Allen, B. Kearney and Valentine are more recent examples. Every time it happens it looks bad. Those are the facts.
More went on with Valentine in the replay I just saw than just walking over to the bench. Too many other players were involved and he WAS flapping his mouth is a sassy manner this came across clearly in his body language.
LOL, he wasn't thanking Izzo for the wisdom he was imparting and Stephens wasn't patting him on the back for a job well done at that moment.
Anyhoo, we can just agree to disagree. MSU won, Valentine generally played well and will continue to develop as we move closer to the NCAA tournament.
The will to succeed is important, but what's more important is the will to prepare.
Well...now that I'm SOBER and have the RIGHT Valentine...I really like the kid. So he lipped off and got put in his place: so what? He's a FRESHMAN and will learn that shit doesn't play in EL just like Nix had to learn it. Dude is a baller and is only 18ish yrs. old. I think we are lucky to have him. Cut him some slack RCMB!

I'm not white.
Announcers play up the Harris playing through pain angle and allofasudden this team is winning an MNC because of a widespread culture of toughness.
This team is tougher than some before it, but I don't know if I'm ready to put the MFing-though-as-nails mantle on them. And perimeter defense and shooting is going to win this year's tournament--something they're entirely capable of if healthy--not blood and sweat.
Stop trying to make something more than it is. I don't know what you have against Valentine but I'd suggest getting over it as he is gonna be a very valuable player here for the next four years.
Do yourself a favor....attend Izzo's show on Monday night and ask him yourself about it instead of spewing useless speculation on a message board.
This is exactly the kind of shit that Izzo hates when it comes to message boards and social media.

I don't disagree, I just don't think it's anything remotely out of the ordinary.
Thank you, Denicos.
How long have you been an MSU fan? The players Izzo has respected the most have always been the ones who go back and forth with him. Maybe Valentine yapped a little too much, but you're making a mountain out of an molehill.
You should try to go to a practice some time if you wanna see frustration or players and coaches going at it.

you are a complete and utter fool.
@joerexrode: Finally getting through MSU-Purdue tape and saw Stephens-Valentine thing. Seriously? People made a big deal of THAT?
I didn't read the whole thread. But it seems to me like a bunch of people here never played sports. Shit happens. When people are super competitive, there will be the occasional crossing of wills. Get over it. This shit happens all the time on a decent team. A team where everyone sits around and is content with getting shit on isn't ever going to be good.
Didn't watch the game because I was out of state in a hotel which didnt get BTN.
From the sounds of it seems like valentine made a mistake and Izzo was trying to reign him in before he made more and valentine was telling him that he was good had 3 seconds to spare.
Izzo isn't used to giving guys like him this much responsibilty as a true freshman.
Izzo has a lot of confidence in him and valentine has confidence in himself. He is going to be agreat one. The fact that he isn't afraid to stand up for himself bodes very well for him.
I said it last year that he has a chance to be a cleaves type of player. He is a great passer and is very competitive and is a winner. Sounds to me like his personality also could be cleaves-like.
