I had thought Payne was going to have a Jahvid Best moment. Then there he goes diving for the pumpkin. Unbelievable.
We Hope For Better Things; It Shall Rise From the Ashes.
That was freaking awesome! So many things happened in that moment. We saw the completion of the evolution of a player when they give 100% of everything they have to the program. You could see it in Izzo's eyes how much that moment meant, and not just for that point in the game. That's an example to look back on to educate and motivate! Like the infamous smashing of the game tape in 2000.
I was listening to the game on the radio so that's the first I saw of it, jesus that is the definition of Tom Izzo basketball.
Having had the chance to meet a number of Badgers over the past year, I have to say - they truly can rival us for meltdowns. I was shocked how little they value their coaches.
Any Youtube on this?
That hug represents what MSU basketball is. The Tom Izzo extended family, of his team, former players & even the fans

So infamous you forgot the year. 2005 my man. Team meeting a few days after Alan Anderson missed some clutch FTs against Iowa in the BTT.
If you are a recruit watching the basketball game and saw the hug with Payne..How can you say no to playing for Izzo? The dude is so passionate.

I wish this included Payne's scramble for the ball and TO.
There's a time and a place for everything and it's called college.
Jabari Parker said that coach K was in his living room and demonstrating positions to him and how "passionate" he was about the game, and that's what really started swaying him to Duke.
I think Jabari Parker is a great kid, everything I've read about him speaks volumns of his character and I wish him well, however, in this one instance, if he used "passion" as an influential reason to chose Duke over MSU and Tom Izzo, I thought he couldn't be more wrong. K vs. Izzo and "passion" and caring about his kids? Not close. Not even close.
You mentioned two separately district things. One is passion for the game the other is passion for the kids. Jabari said he liked K's passion for the game. TI demonstrated his passion for his players.
I also think he's beyond passionate for the game, just watch him on the sidelines, how he coaches. That picture of him in our victory over Florida in the NC game demonstrates his passion for everythingn. I think he beats K in both passion for the game and the kids.
So many feels...
I hear you and I was not saying that Izzo lacks passion for the game. I guess my point is that it is difficult to say that while sitting in Jabari's living room Coach K didn't demonstrate more passion for the game than Coach Izzo did. I remember reading a report about how Izzo and Stephens got the last in-home visit with Jabari and that they really didn't even talk basketball much during that visit. Rather, he and Izzo talked more about life. To me, that was big and made me proud of the way Izzo handles our program because he is not just building players or a program, but building men. Maybe Jabari figured he already has good parents to do that and wants a coach that is passionate about basketball first and individuals second. Hell if I know .
Jabari is a douche..now lets focus on Cliff Alexander, Okafur and Jones
Who wouldn't want to play for a coach like Tom Izzo? I'd run through a damn brick wall for the man.
