BREAKING: Charlie Strong turns down Tennessee, new Louisville contract is being finalized. http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2012/writers/pete_thamel/12/05/louisville-charlie-strong-extension/index.html …
Butch Jones, come on down?? Starting to run low on options...
"When I was in school they told me practice makes perfect. Then they told me nobody's perfect. So I stopped practicing." --Steven Wright
Butch is going to Colorado.
they will sell their soul and hire petrino
BUT GRUDEN WANTS THE JOB!!!!!!!!!
"Put your mother in a straight-jacket you punk ass white boy." ~ Mike Tyson
Yeah, probably. I was just surprised that Petrino would get another gig so quickly, so I guess I mentally DQ'd him.
That Tennessee gig must really suck.
"If they want to mock us, I'm telling them it's not over. It will never be over here. It's just starting." - Mark Dantonio, 2007
Not a great AD or President to deal with. Some academic issues also. They are trying to fix a 2.06 team GPA and 1.9 scholarship football player GPA.
Some words rumoring about new admittance policies for football that will hurt recruiting.
Cant spell SEC without a tutor!!
If you laugh, you think, and you cry, that's a full day. That's a heck of a day.
In the SEC its Vandy, UF, Texas A&M and everyone else. When Big Ten expansion has been discussed the SEC was safe. Those 3 are the only schools the CIC would even consider.
Tennessee got what they wished for when they couldn't wait to get rid of Phil Fulmer.
Well I just head Coach D's name mentioned for the first time by a radio guy here in Nashville.
"I don't know much about Dantonio's situation at Michigan State, but that is the next guy they need to look at. If you can win 11 games at Michigan State you must be doing something right"
God these SEC types are asshats. Brought up Saban jumping to LSU and Bielema wanting out of the Big 10 as reasons he would want to come to UT.
Are you familiar with the tirade?
This takes the award for Understatement of the Year.
Ive seen his name mentioned a couple times, but most of them back off because he just had a down year!! yay for down years!
not a bit. But the cap locks got me excited.
If this year's football team had scored one more FG or TD in 4 games Dantonio would have had 3 consecutive 10+ win seasons and this board would have gone from elation to panic meltdown with reports of the potential loss of Dantonio and possibly Narduzzi.
Got to figure the same coaching search firms the SEC schools use would have been contacting Dantonio's agent regularly.
I would like to think Dantonio would have stayed given his age and previous medical concerns. Had an SEC team offered $19.2 million over 6 years, a $1.3 million per year raise would have to be considered.

Why did does it surprise you that our football program is a relative "meh" nationwide. What would stand out to you about Michigan State football if you lived in Tennesee or Arizona or wherever? We are a mediocre B1G program. It's the troof. Get your head out of the sand.
They are probably contacting him anyways. Im sure there has been a flyer sent out to a ton of coaches.
well, I DO live in Tennessee, and the people I know (the ones who's opinions I would listen to) all think that Dantonio is a great coach, and Michigan State is an above average team that just cant get past the big 2 often enough.
The one SEC coach who's opinion I care about told me "MSU is a sleeping giant" and "they never contacted me. If they had, I would have given that very serious thought"
Our fan base, is at times, our program's biggest obstacle.
Have some fucking pride.
Oh, and FIRE ROUSHAR.
My head isn't in the sand. I realize where MSU and the Big 10 stands right now. Honestly, not sure where you got that out of my original post.
You really have to live down here to appreciate the superiority complex that exists throughout the SEC. This UT coaching search has only brought it further to light.
The fanbase here is still living in 1995 where UT is a top 5 program and can pull players and coaches from wherever they like. It's like the UM fanbase, but slightly louder and more annoying.
They talked for days about whether an SEC team could beat an NFL team the week after Alabama beat LSU. The level of delusion is relatively incredible.
Blah blah MSU has been a blah sleeping giant since the 70s. Only hardcore college football fans know anything about MSU. 95% of other fans couldn't name you our starting QB. Hell, there are people who think OSU is our hated rival. It's just how it is. The sooner people realize it the easier it is to cope after dumpster fire seasons like 2012 and 2009. There's a reason so many grown ups, myself include, were crying outside of Lucas Oil last year.
People that pay attention to football believe this.
Most people down here don't believe anything outside the SEC is football so they have no idea about your team unless you are playing someone in the SEC.
How so? our shitty fan base that consistently fills up SS to top 20 in attendance every year is the problem?
This is true. 100%.
There is the SEC, and then the rest of the country. They believe us to be relevant to the rest of the country. LOLing. But beating uga helped our reputation down here, by leaps and bounds.
You were caught off guard at people in Tennessee thinking they could poach MD and thinking UT is a much better coaching gig than MSU?
I cant name the starting QB at most SEC schools. That doesnt mean much. And I cant tell you who Oklahoma's most hated rival is either. Okie St? Texas? dont know or care.
Who is Uga's most hated Rival? Florida? GaTech? Other?
I dont even remember the name of Uga's QB and Ive seen him play -v- UT and UF.
Dont take it all so personal. SEC fans are mostly arrogant jerks. That doesnt mean they dont respect us outside their own little world.
