Not one bit off guard. Honestly, I was surprised he wasn't mentioned earlier.
There is however a high level of delusion about where UT's program is. Like I said, it is UM amplified.
They are currently about where we were post JLS, but in their minds they are mid Phil Fulmer and Manning is still wearing the Power T.
Congrats though on exercising your freedom to offer your thoughts on MSU's program.
can we change the name of this thread to Tennessee Football has been turned down by Everybody
If you laugh, you think, and you cry, that's a full day. That's a heck of a day.

This means nothing. SEC Fans know nothing outside of the SEC. The things they do know, they compare to what the learned when they first started watching football. Usually, that makes michigan and ohio state the king of the big10. But the ones that truly enjoy college football, and those are the ones whos opinions I care about, know differently.
Tennessee coaching search: The ugly chick looking for dick at bar time.
"Put your mother in a straight-jacket you punk ass white boy." ~ Mike Tyson
Johnny Football is so good that they have a 4 star WR that wants to join the team. Recruits are calling TAMU for scholarships now
Well...Arkansas just stole Wisconsin's coach.
This is ridiculous. They are nowhere near where we were post JLS.
They won a national title in 1998
Since then,. they've won 9,8,11,8,10,10,5,9,10,5,7,6,5,5
Had MSU been a National Championship contender and won 8-11 games every year for the two decades prior to Bobby and JLS....that comparison might hold some water.
You ever think MSU's revolving door of coaches and rumors of coaching leaving that began in the '70's has had anything to do with that?
Stolz - 3 seasons - NCAA got him with info fed to them from Woody Hayes
Rogers - 4 seasons - left East Lansing and followed AD Joe Kearney to ASU
Waters - 3 seasons - hired a decade too late and was hit with budget cuts
Perles - 12 seasons - after the '85 season started talking to the Packers, then the NY Giants and then tried to be AD
Saban - 5 seasons - rebuilt and promptly left for LSU before coaching in the bowl game
Williams - 3 seasons - we now know why BW never got another HC job. Program left in shambles
Smith - 4 seasons - cleaned up the program like he always does and couldn't win consistently (like he always does)
Dantonio - 6 seasons and counting.
Add in probation and loss of scholarships under Stolz and Perles. Not a plan for building a solid program. It can be done. Alvarez and Beilema proved it in Madison starting in 1990 when Alvarez went 1-10.
I think Perles talked to the Colts too.
And it was the Jets, not the Giants.
The Jets are expected to have a new head coach today after George Perles of Michigan State flies to New York to hammer out the details of a contract.A source familiar with the negotiations confirmed

Look at the last 5 years. The 10 years before that mean absolutely nothing in the current landscape. They are 2-14 in the SEC the last 2 years.
Their program is in shambles. Dooley burned bridges with many high school coaches throughout the state. They have no confidence in their AD. The university president is awful. The program is on probation. Their last 2 coaching searches were debacles. They are in the middle of a third that is quickly heading that way.
All of that on top of Vanderbilt being greatly improved and watching Alabama, LSU, and Florida dominate over most of that period as well as Georgia, South Carolina, and Texas A&M on the way up.
It is a dumpster fire.
I never said they're in great shape..
but you have absolutely no perspective if you think they are in the same position we were in post JLS.
I listen to Terry Fair and Russell Smith on WNOX every afternoon. This is an absolute 100% accurate statement. You hit it right on the head.
I think that anyone trying to comment on the state of UT football, that doesnt live in TN, cannot have proper perspective. Excellent post.
They folks around here are trying to get the President of the U, and the AD both fired. There is zero confidence in them. The folks here think that they should have been fired for not landing Gruden. And then when fatass went to Arkansas and UT was chasing Stong, who has only been a coach for 3 years....holy cow, it is ugly here. Stong is also....dont know if yall know this......not white. There were some around here, yes......yes indeed....that didnt take well to that.
It is a dumpster fire, and absolutely one of the most entertaining coaching searches I have ever seen.
It's still a Top 15-20 job. If they get a coach that can get recruits out of Georgia, they'll do OK.
The problem is they need to hit a home run with a coach for PR purposes. I just don't know where they turn at this point. Is it possible they go back to Fulmer? You should never fire a coach without having a strong plan to replace him (especially in their situation). They might as well go after Kirby Smart.
Damn entertaining. I listen to the Nashville guys all day as I work and most of them are either UT grads or UT homers. I cannot imagine how bad the afternoon guys are going to be hurting today. They were 100% convinced they had Gruden, then Gundy, then Strong. Anything less than those 3 is viewed as an epic failure.
Fedora might have passed, but it sounds like he is uninterested. Funny stuff. Bo Pelini seems to be the radio sweetheart this morning. They have also started having serious discussion about whether they should bring back Fulmer.
I don't get it. Tennessee seems like it could be a great job. Huge fan base, big stadium, decent history, SEC... Charlie Strong would have been a great hire.
If Tennessee a better job than Arkansas?
They should hire Fulmer back...until Manning retires.
I think it is. Tennessee will have an easier time in the SEC East than Arkansas ever will in the SEC West.
not to hijack this thread, but this is funny. Thankfully this guy will be no closer to NYC than I will for that award.
I thought we have moved past giving the award to the QB of one of the best teams in the country? Gino Torretta anyone?
The dude can chuck the ball. He throws it better than a lot of past winners. Ive seen him play a lot this year. Pretty damn good qb. and he is about to win the NC.
None of which makes him the most outstanding player this year..........even in this down year for college football. Nice college QB? Sure. Possibly NFL caliber down the road? Sure, why not? Tim Tebow and Greg McElroy are currently on NFL rosters (ironically the same). But Heisman? Please.
If I had a vote it would go like this
1) Johnny Football
2) A.J McCarron
Says the guy shitting on the program he cried about. Phucking bandwagon pussy...
