I know we still have the bowl game to go but figured I would ask the question. How do you see the 2 deep going into next season. I know there are variables i.e Gholston, Sims and Bell possibly declaring. I personally think Sims and Bell go and Gholston stays so my prediction will reflect that.
QB- Maxwell, Cook, O'Connor (Terry redshirts)
RB- Hill or Tompkins or Langford or Holmes (Shelton redshirts)
FB- Palazetti, Pendleton
WR- Burbridge and Mumphrey start. Fowler in the slot. Others in the mix...Arnett. Madaris, Kings and Sims Jr.
TE- Lang, Gleichert
LT- Fonti, Clark
LG- Treadwell, Keiler
C- Jackson, Klatt
RG- Allen, McGowan
RT- France or Burkland, Dennis
KR-Sims Jr. and Kings
PR-Sims Jr., Kings, Arnett
What do you think? Feel free to make your own suggestion
Not bad, but Donovan Clark probably will move back to guard after this season.
Did you kick Tony Lippett off the team?
Tyler Hoover has requested a sixth year of eligibility and if granted will be in the mix at DT.
I think it's more likely Dennard goes than Bell. Watching The Journey it seemed like Bell wants to be the first graduate in his family. And with Dennard he might be looking at what staying for the senior season did to Adams and his draft stock and make the decision to jump. Completely my opinion, but those are the feelings I get now.
I did forget about Lippet! I honestly think he moves back to DB, especially if Dennard leaves. I know everyone has been praising Robinson but I think Lippet is more suited for DB. With Burbridge, Fowler and Mumphrey along with Arnett having the whole off season and the others I think he would get buried down the depth chart if kept as a WR.
so basically you left him in limbo. Way to be bold with you way too early depth chart. That's the whole point of one, to predict shit. Instead, you punted on 3rd down.
Actually wasn't trying to be BOLD! I made a mistake and left him off. I think he moves back to DB so we have more depth
No Thomas on defense? If that happens, talk about wasting elite talent
Can we not talk about Dennard leaving this year?
I am hoping that Arnett gets it together and proves himself to be the #1 receiver on the team during spring ball. He is super talented and if he can play up to his potential, he could be the go to receiver.
I hope you're right...unfortunately, graduating can just mean finishing up at the University of Pheonix like Larry Fitzgerald is doing. (face palm at Larry Fitzgerald)
Burbridge is the most talented receiver and will easily be the #1
Oh yeah...and that's not debatable either. I'm just hoping that Arnett comes back this spring with renewed focus. If he does claim the #1 spot, that will be good on him and not bad on anyone else.
I hope Arnett proves himself too. I still think that Burbridge is still the most talented and has the most potential. As for Thomas, I really hope the coaches move him back to the defensive side. I think he could be a dominating DT and a NT in our 3-3-5 package.
Thomas and the staff need to pick a position and leave him there. Impossible to develop if you just keep moving around all over the field on both sides of the ball.
Michigan State does not and will not run the 3-4 defense.
Rocky - how do you see LT fitting in next year ?
QB- Maxwell, Cook, O'Connor
RB- Hill OR Tompkins, Langford
FB- Thomas OR Palazeti, Pendleton
WR1: Burbridge, Lippett
WR2: Mumphrey, Arnett
WR3: Fowler, Kings
TE- Sims, Lang OR Gleichert OR Mills OR Caesar OR Thomas (really no proven #2 TE)
LT- Fonoti, Burkland
LG- Treadwell, Clark
C- Jackson, Allen
RG- Allen, McGowan
RT- Burkland OR France, Dennis
MIKE-Bullough, Elsworth OR Reschke
SS-Lewis, Jones OR Cox
KR-Sims Jr. OR Kings

Depends on what Dion Sims does. I'm not 100% sure LT's on D next year.
Why did you flip Tackles?
Fou to LT and France to RT?
Do you think Cox challenges for the open Corner position? (Not sure how easy it is to switch from S to CB) He has (what will be) a RS Soph and SR in front of him at FS, so he wont get much time there, and two seniors at SS, so he could see the field there sparingly in 2013 and potentially start in 2014 as a RS Soph
You could see Jones/Price at TE as well.
Waynes or Robinson will be at the CB spot.
I'd like to see more of Joel Heath. Heard a ton about him in the offseason, but he's barely played. Calhoun has played, but hasn't made a huge impact.
I think Jackson at OG is more likely than Allen; Allen just did not look comfortable at OG this year.
Why does everyone say this? Adams would have been like a 7th round pick if he went last year.
RS Cox was key this year for exactly that reason: logjam at safety that's going to resolve itself by '14.
Cox is a safety more than anything else, and the responsibilities are pretty different. No clue how good he is as a cover man; MSU puts its CBs on an island a lot and that allows the rest of the D a lot more freedom.
Supposedly he was going to get some looks as a wildcat QB, so he may see some time on O next year and definitely on special teams.
I think Drummond has solidified his hold on the FS position and Williamson almost has to be the nickel. Kid just makes plays. Pity he's only 1 class behind Drummond.
There was some talk that Williamson possibly could take over for Adams next year. How likely would you say that is?
