A bird flies onto the court, and Byrd hits all 4 free throws. Coincidence? I'm hoping he's got some confidence back and he comes up big this March, if he gets any playing time at least.
So I guess a window pane breaking in the Brez would mean that Payne would have a break out tourney??
Yep..definitely. An oman.
Make it happen!
somewhere in the basement of gallager's basement, an apple trembles.
Yes, but it would be best to throw three bags of rice at the pane to break it. Trice needs his own Oman.
I will be watching Dawson's Creek reruns until BJ gets his groove back.
I hear you, I was screaming "Yemen!!!" when he hit those free bees thinking he got his groove back.
Was really nice to see how much the crowd was pulling for him.
"I love March!" - Tom Izzo
There was a lot riding on his last 2 shots. He wasn't phased and gave the fans free tacos!
it looked like a wren or chikadee to me.
It was a Russell Bird.
One of the best things of the night for me, Russel Byrd stepping up to hit FT's and not looking like he was going to shit himself. He looked confident, shot all 4 like he knew they were going in. By all accounts the kid shoots lights out in practice, shoots well during shoot around, just has a mental block during games. It would be huge for the team next year if Byrd gets going.
The first time MSU basketball aired in France the French surrendered to Tom Izzo just to be safe.
Somebody at work just mentioned Emmett Otter's Jugband Christmas!
I think you can nix that theory.
Shooting free throws and hitting shots during play are two different things.
Byrd is a very good shooter but he hasn't come back from his three surgeries, probably more mentally than physically, but I wonder if the physical part of it isn't still a problem. ???
True but he's had a lot of really bad misses even at the FT line this year. He's seemed to have 0 confidence in either his jumper or FT shot. So seeing him exhibit any confidence out there was nice to see.
Exactly. Doesn't sound like it's much of a physical thing if he's hitting shots in practice but not in games, just comes down to confidence. Obviously, everyone wants him to succeed.
And let's face it, most teams aren't going to worry about guarding him, and we can use all the help we can get right now. A guy like that coming off the bench hitting a couple shots could provide a huge spark, and he has the size to create some mismatches and some different looks.
They wanted Tacos.
Well...there was that too...lol.
Now Izzo knows Byrd's motivation for playing well...tacos. He should buy him a taco for every point he scores.
Said it yesterday: a bird on the court is worth two on the bench
In all seriousness, I was glad to see Byrd drill those free throws.
