Anyone have a recommendation either way? We are looking to get one for the fam and don't know which is better.
I have wifi because i mostly just use it at home or work. I love it but if you travel a lot you'll probably want to get a plan otherwise you have to find places that have free wifi.
I love the convenience of having a 3G/4G plan. The other thing you could do is get a hot spot. Might be cheaper.

It is ALWAYS a great day to be a Spartan!!!!
The 4G is wicked fast. I love having that option, and I use it often.
i thought the same thing... if you are going to be using it at home then just wifi.... if you are going to be using it out and about... I have an iphone 4s or 5 so I use its personal hotspot feature to use the wifi on the ipad.....
I travel every week and have no problem finding wifi. It may be a waste of money to get the cellular option, but in the end it is entirely up to you.
I bought my wife the first iPad when it came out, and I got the 3G one. She's never used it. Even traveling, we can always find wifi.
If you have a 4G phone, there is no need to get a 4G tablet.
You can use your phone as a mobile hotspot for no additional fee. The data just counts towards your shared data like it would on another phone.
In the era of shared data plans, I don't see how it makes sense to have a separate plan for your iPad unless you plan to use it a LOT while traveling and are always away from wifi.
Argee. I have an ipad with its own mobile plan, but once we got phones that could be a hot spot, I canceled the plan. I think its pointless to pay 10 bucks to add a tablet to your move phone plan unless you are constantly traveling with your tablet but without your phone? Who would do that?
Since phone screens r so small i think a tablet w cellular would be better for driving and posting on the rcmb.
Wi-Fi unless you have a need to give a wireless company an extra $20-$30 bucks a month.
Even if you are on the road nearly everyplace seems to have free wi-fi.
I use mine in meetings where businesses have a secured network. It comes in handy. I use the Wifi a lot more but I wouldn't want one without.
This my friends is pure genius.
I can use Swype on my phone but not on my iPad. You do the math.
