This x1000. Well stated. A win for u-m is always bad or MSU. Period.
It's not a divide of age, it's a divide from sensibility.
It's not only improving the BTT matchups, but also improving the chance for a 2 seed in the NCAAs..
how about we just not watch the game, hope Indiana loses and just ignore who their opponent is.
Unless you can win a B10 championship? Izzo already stated he would not be "rooting" for UM. Its the last game of the year, and chips have already fell as they may. Its not like UM decides the championship, that could have been decided at Minn, et al.
You think Izzo does that kind of analysis with scUM, OSU, IU recruiting? The answer is HELL NO. OSU picks kids out of Indiana, Michigan..same as we pluck out of other states.
Izzo will play anyone, anytime, anywhere. Same applies to recruiting, or "program perception."
It wouldn't kill this group of generally humble, hard working Spartans to have a little more swagger and arrogance every now and again. Not many programs have come close to what we have accomplished. Act like it.
Stop worrying about those cheating dickbag losers down the road.
Act like you have been there before, BECAUSE YOU HAVE!!!!
I disagree that MSU's losses to IU were convincing. MSU had a good chance to win both.
This is true. Getting the mr basketballs in Michigan will get more difficult if um is perceived as on par with msu. Hoke is already destroying md on the recruiting trail in Michigan we don't need beiline (don't know spelling) doing the same.
Keeping the sunshiners in check since 2000.
Root or Toot for who you like.... Just as long as you send it in like Jerome!
SPOILER ALERT: Rooting doesn't affect the outcome of the game.
This reminds me of the time someone warned me not to overlook the next game on the schedule.... as if I were a player on the team.
Anyone rooting for IU simply verifies what the scUMbags have been saying for years - that they're so in our heads, we care more about their failure than our success. That Appalachian State was the biggest win in MSU football history. And lemmings on this board and Spartanmag play right into that.
We take a back seat to NO ONE. Some one you genuinely believe we're inferior to scUM. You're so afraid of them having a little success you'd rather tear us down too so they don't win a title. it's pathetic. It's a loser mentality.
I don't give a rats ass if they win a title. Let 'em. Won't matter. Izzo is still here, and their ascension hasn't derailed our program in the slightest. They're not winning head to head recruiting battles against us. B_ still hasn't accomplished dick in the dance while Izzo has an arena full of banners. I, for one, would like to see him add another one. No recruit will look at our 2013 Big Ten championship banner and say, "Well, I'm not impressed since you needed Michigan to win. You backed into it. I'm going to play for Beilein instead."
To quote a great man, "I only care about Michigan State".
Everyone here knows that games are won in two places: the court and the message boards.
Horseshit. Once Burke is gone they're going to revert back to mediocrity. They're a flash in the pan. This is their best team in 20 years and they lost to Penn State for chrissakes. Our football staff are notoriously bad recruiters, while Izzo has landed stud after stud after stud. Football has no bearing on basketball.
An IU win sets MSU up with a better draw in the BTT and, in turn, sets MSU up with a better chance at a 2 seed in the NCAAs.. which is what MSU plays for.. success in the NCAAs.
This is just plain stupidity. Sorry, that's just the way it is. Maybe, you could make this argument in football (maybe). But in basketball? Really? C'mon. We're Michigan Fucking State and we have Tom Fucking izzo. We don't need to worry about recruiting perception.
Don't post poop!
As a fan base, we will never get over the perception of being "little brother" until we stop acting like one. This is not being an MSU fan, this is being an anti-fan of another school.
We are assuming OSU beats the Illini, and that isn't a given.
12177 Post before moving here. 10/29/11 will live forever in our hearts (plus 50 votes in the last 3 hours)
SACK UP NANCIES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! All that needs to be said.
The perception of MSU has changed nationally in the past 15 years. Our fanbases mentality hasn't tho.

You are the one making threads about Michigan, so I would guess that you are no better than the people you are pretending to be better than.
Backing in? Kicking in the door? Really? What your adolescent rhetoric ignores is that we've earned our record by playing with some of the best teams in the country over the course of a long B1G season. We didn't back into anything.
Actually, the thread is about the jackasses who root for UM to lose and deny MSU a share of the title.
BS. Better draw in the BTT? Who gives a damn? We'll win the games in front of us, and can beat anyone in the BTT. Preferring a better draw in this joke of a tournament over a banner is insane.
As for the NCAA tournament, need I remind you that Izzo has twice made the Final Four as a 5 seed. And got bounced last year as a 1. Seeding will not determine how far we go this year, in a season with no truly dominant teams. Who would you rather play, 2 seed Louisville or 1 seed Duke? See? Not cut and dry this year.
Give me the banner. Keep building the program's legacy.
WTF are you talking about?
We played the most difficult schedule in the B10. Did we not earn our current position?
Top: MSU, IU, OSU, Wiscy, scUM
Middle: ILL, MN, Purdue, Iowa
Bottom: Neb, NW, PSU
MSU and IU were only teams to play 2 of the bottom 3 teams only once.
MSUs ones: NW, PSU, Iowa
IUs ones: ILL, NW, Neb
scUMs ones: WI, Neb, Iowa
Wiscy's ones : scUM, IU, NW
OSUs ones: IW, MN, Purdue
Analyse that, and the back end 4 game brutal stretch we had to close the toughest B10 season in recent memory, and tell me we didn't earn what we got? Idiot.
Fuck scUM and all you idiots who take a backseat to anyone in the conference or country.
JFC this again. I am old and could care less about the other teams. I would take a BTC.
Never thought about the age thing. But I would guess the difference comes from the bitterness built up over the years. If you are younger you have only known MSU hoops with Izzo on top. UM is not really relevant compared to.msu's success. We have shared titles with a handful of other schools that had great runs. Those teams change a bit but MSU has been the constant.
.....give me a break with the recruiting and seedings stuff. That is just a sad attempt rationalize your own losers mentality. For these folks it doesnt really matter if um wins or loses because they will always be losers as fans and losers in life.
For the record I am in my 40s. Is that old?
