Yeah, that place WAS awesome... When I was in 7th grade....
It was an 80s theme party...about two dozen people including her family members, friends and coworkers showed up. It was quite a good time, actually.
I'm in Byron Center right now. Went for a walk. Fed some geese that I will likely shoot later this week. Went to a gas station. Good times.
Have lived in BC for 5 years and although I have warmed up to it a little I can't wait for the kid to graduate HS this year so we can head to the lakeshore. Basic bedroom community, 20 minutes from my downtown office. Good school district, although your kids will suffer from the lack of diversity. I do love walking the dogs down Kent Trails and BC Meats is pretty damn good. Most people around here are your typical hypocritical christian right wing dutch rednecks, but other than that pretty harmless....
Sounds like a magical Christmas.

WTF is a Byron Center?
1) Can't stress that enough. Fine education, bad life experience.
Also, I most likely know your kid.
Still no minorities in BC? That is surprising. I thought with GR growing and the world becoming "smaller" that BC was probably a lot more diverse than when I was growing up there...guess not...
Not many, the GRR bus line does not reach this far, and the school district has been very careful about allowing in school of choice kids (i.e., non-christian whites) so as to not piss off the locals. The same locals (possibly) that did not allow Pete's and Railside to sell booze on Sunday after they invested heavily in their businesses because the bible says it is a "day of rest". Makes my stomach turn. OK, enough about BC. It isn't worthy of any more of our time.
It's somewhat better, but not a lot. I can name about 8 or 9 black people in our entire school.
