Agreed. Costello looks not only comfortable, but downright aggressive.
I recall reading he plays with a little bit of a "mean streak" or passion. Now that he's getting more comfy, I think we're seeing a little of that.
Maybe that explains his jumpers from the block last night
All the freshmen played well, they got the memo!
The will to succeed is important, but what's more important is the will to prepare.
"extreme conference competition"? Someone needs to take a day to get their feet back on the ground.
8 pts, 6 boards. McJesus, lil Timmy, and little dog combined for 8 pts, 4 boards. Not bad, outplaying 3 lottery picks...
The Lucas, Summers, Allen, Herzog class was probably just as good. Albeit a different mold of player.
Bell and Hutson both came in and started right away as freshman for the first Big Ten title of the Izzo era.
Yeah I was pretty drunk and basking in the afterglow of a good win making bold proclamation that maybe are not true. But where this group is in mid-Feb of its first year is extraordinary. Gary Harris is the man. The future is bright.
Valentine did seem to hit it from late Decemeber - Mid January.
This. The class this year is terrific. But Magic was the best class. Vincent was just frosting on the cake.
It's all over now baby blue!
Maybe the best in the Izzo era. Harris may be the best frosh in the country. Valentine is just nuts. Costello is starting to show what he can do. All time best would be Magic/Vincent.
Peplowski/Stegeigenga/Montgomery/Hickman/Zulof was pretty good too.
Its five o'clock somewhere.
But don't forget UM's freshman class is better. They were ranked number 7
Harris and Valentine were cleary the #1 and #2 freshman on the floor last night, but Costello was probably 3rd too. Costello would be starting for some teams in the B1G, he's got some skill and provides rebounding and toughness. He's just behind 2 great big men, but his time will come. On another team, I could see Costello averaging 7 and 7 as a freshman.
