Welcome back Zack Miner
Bob Dutton @Royals_Report
#Royals have traded RHP Zach Miner, a former Tiger, back to Detroit for cash considerations.
We are not the same, I am a Spartan
Oh jesus. Let's bring Nate Cornejo and Mike Maroth back while we're at it.
December 3, 2011 - Forever haunted by what I witnessed...
This is all because we traded John Smoltz!!
If you laugh, you think, and you cry, that's a full day. That's a heck of a day.
Where's Jason Grilli?
Anyone but Miner Leaguer.
(Fettuccine) Wilfredo Ledezma wasn't available?
I don't get why everyone is freaking out? This is an organizational depth move. Turner still hasn't pitched a game down in Lakeland, so he's not coming North (Toledo) for awhile. Wilk is starting in the bigs. Right now the starting rotation in Toledo is Brooks Brown, Oliver (who has zero control right now), Ni (who is now on the DL), Thad Weber, Ramon Garcia, and Casey Crosby. So basically, Casey Crosby, an injured Ni, and nobodies. No one is expecting Miner to even sniff the majors, unless Marte and Al Al have unforeseen setbacks, and Balester implodes. And even if that happens Villarreal is still preferred.
On a completely unrelated note, I just noticed that Gorkys Hernandez is in AAA, and on Pittsburgh's 40-man roster.
Zach Miner wasn't that bad; I don't get the backlash here.
Miner was terrible and every outing turned into an extended bullpen session. He was a contact pitcher with terrible control.
He's actually in Pittsburgh off to a good start. (6 IP, 1 BB, 9 K 3.00 ERA) He had a nice 2011 there too.
Good for Drilli
I don't think he was great by any means, but he's fine as insurance for the last righty out of the pen if Balester keeps faltering.
Our bigger problem is Schlereth.
I'm just not a fan at all. He was definitely better in relief though. I still haven't forgiven him for his start versus KC in 2006 at the very end of the season. All we needed to do was win one game to win the division and the dickbag gives up 5 hits and 5 ER in the first inning and gets pulled after 1 out.
Still went to the World Series that year
Rogue Leader= Obese coward who didn't attend MSU and has no college degree
Oh fuck, I TOTALLY FORGOT!!!!
His control rivals that of Perry and Oliver.
He hasn't pitched in the bigs since he was a Tiger and he isn't going to anytime soon. Total minor league depth move.
We lost our last 5 games of the season, only needing one to clinch. Miner was just a part of the problem.
Do you guys think that I never watch baseball or something?
Worst pitcher in the history of the Tigers bullpen. Ever. To this day every single self-respecting Tigers fan should have a good, hard shin-kick bounty on him if they see him in public.
Sid Monge not available?
Miner and Seay were great in relief... i felt like we had one of the best bullpens out there that year... what is it 3 or 4 years ago.
You must not have ever watched baseball.
The guy has a career 4.24 ERA, which is lower than the league's averages in the years he pitched. His career ERA+ is 107.
Miner's ERA vs League's ERA:
2006 - 4.84 vs 4.56
2007 - 3.02 vs 4.50
2008 - 4.27 vs 4.35
2009 - 4.29 vs 4.45
The guy was an average major league pitcher, nothing more, nothing less. Career WAR of 2.9.
above average pitcher.
A. He hasn't pitched in MLB since '09. Might be a reason for it.
B. You do make a good point with the statistical analysis, however
I always find it funny too how people are just such know-it-alls about the Tigers. Fat ass Huge writes an article the other day chastising Leyland for using Raburn and Schlereth this year. Never mind the fact that both guys have had decent MLB careers and we're a week into the season. Fire everyone! Including Leyland.
