Yup, fan favorite. But I think Kobernus could beat him out. Similar skill set but younger and bats R. They may have a long view on him as the future utility guy or maybe even 2B in development.
DD said a half dozen Teams showed interest, But no one made a good offer.
Isn't a pack of gum a better offer than just releasing him?
He's not good.
I know that, but the whining will be loud and widespread if he's not there. Smallball!
Anyone. Anyplace. Anytime.
Maybe they were offering expensive gum.
Like I said, a real hitting coach who works with the players to eliminate bad habits and establish plate discipline, something Lloyd McClendon has no concept of.

No one made an offer. That's why Dumbo is paying him 400k to leave.
I am gravely disappointed. Again you have made me unleash my dogs of war.
Yeah, its McClendons fault Boesch swings at ridiculously bad pitches. You realize thats not a mechanics issue right?
1) that is hard to believe. 2) that is not what DD said.
That's what good hitting coaches do. Help players with the mental approach to the game and learn plate discipline.
I guess they only helped the good hitters on the team then?
Berry should be on the team
He has something the team lacks and you can't teach: Speed
Rogue Leader= Obese coward who didn't attend MSU and has no college degree
It's Berry vs Kobernus. They don't need both.
Teams were interested but it can be hard to reach a deal. Other clubs probably wanted to trade another player with a similar contract or have the tigers pick up almost all of his contract. Sometimes it is just better to cut him and let him choose his own destination.
That doesn't mean much if you can't hit a baseball. Tough to carry a guy on the 25 man roster when all he does well is pinch run.
I don't think Berry is a major league player.
Dominating Press Conferences Since 2007
Mike Laga is going to make you forget every power hitter who ever lived.
If hitters like Boesch can't recognize their own clearly obvious bad habits by watching video of their plate appearances, they won't improve. Hitting coaches can fine tune and tweak, but his long and wild swings at everything nowhere near the strike zone fall on him.

I read the news today, oh boy .. ..
About a lucky man who made the grade
"Dumbo" cause he's dumb, get it?? I mean, the guy has only won us two pennants! Can his ass!!
Nope. McClendon actually told him to do that. Its all his fault you see because I can't think of any better scapegoat.
Not surprised. Never saw the hype with Brennan. Good luck to him.
The moment is eternal
Boesch never came back from the thumb injury. Don't know if he changed his grip, swung the bat more gingerly or what but he was never the same. Hopefully he gets a shot with another team or at least gets a shot at Triple A to return to his best season.
Wow, you went waaaay back for that one. lol.
Hopefully they don't replace him with another Mexican.

I guess we're arguing semantics.
Any offers that were made involved the Tigers paying the vast majority of his 2.3 million dollar contract. I'm sure a lot of clubs made inquiries because DD's been known to pay scrubs a lot of money to play for other teams. 5 million for Inge in Oakland, 7+ mill for Dontrelle in Arizona, 13 mill for Sheff to play in NY, etc.
