Love what I'm seeing offensively out of this lineup.
Sanchez gets out of the Jane with only one run. Pitch count is up there though
Love keeping a big lead, as my aching ass tells me there's going to be a Villareal sighting today. Sigh.....
Since light travels faster than sound, people appear bright until you hear them speak.
Detroit 10, Oakland 1. Seven strong innings from Sanchez, with Porcello pitching 2 innings in relief to bring it home.
Thank you, Denicos.
Nice series win against a hot team.
Anyone. Anyplace. Anytime.
Sanchez looks like money well spent.
3 series wins in a row?

Go 2-1 in every 3 game series and you're going to win a lot of games (unless you get swept in all the 4 gamers...)
before the road trip, I was hoping for a 5-4 or 6-3 trip. Obviously early, but Oakland was playing great baseball and it is nice to take the series. hopefully they can take the next two series as well. LAA was playing awful, hopefully their walk-off win today didn't wake them up.

I'll take 2/3 on the west coast against a hot play off team any day. Would've been nice to hold on to the game on Friday, but the A's are good, and there's no shame in losing a 12th inning game after a travel day. I'm just glad that turnaround didn't wear the rest of the team out.
I made a bold prediction before the season. A Tiger would win the triple crown again...but it wouldn't be Cabrera. It's early, but man Fielder must feel the same way...he's really seeing the ball well. Even though V-Mart hasn't hit full stride yet, (though he's getting there...starting to hit the ball harder. Didn't think he would start fast after missing a whole year...bare with him), Martinez's presence has given Fielder some nice protection. That combined with Fielder essentially used to playing in the AL now, is going to be a huge story line this year. I can see he and MC splitting MVP votes (which means neither may win it).
Hunter's professionalism in the 2 hole has been very good...especially for Jackson. Obviously he won't keep hitting .408 or whatever, probably not even .375, but he'll do a lot of good things, and provide protection for Jackson. Plus, Hunter is showing Jackson how, himself, to perform as a pro, top of the order hitter. It's also nice to have men on base almost every time MC and Fielder are up. How many times have the Tigers put up a run in the first now? 8 or 9 out of 12? I didn't think Hunter, at age 37, would be this big of an improvement over the mess of Boesch, Dirks, and Berry from last year...but the difference has been highly noticeable.
That 1-5 won't all be hitting ,338 on average this season (that's with Martinez's .146 BA currently), but they may do some great things if they stay healthy. I think Hunter's professionalism, Jackson's maturity as a lead off hitter that started last year, and the historical performance of MC, Fielder and V-Mart will keep this offense humming at a high level all year long.
LAA has some pitching issues...both in Pen and rotation, I like the match-up.
You know Hunter is going to be fired up...he felt disrespected by his former team telling him they don't have money to sign him in front of over paying Hamilton.
I didn't watch the whole game yesterday, so I'm not sure if this was shown live, but this video is worth a watch.
I do feel bad for the kid, but this is pretty dang funny.
From the blog Yahoo! Sports Minute: What do you get when you cross a Victor Martinez foul ball and a magnanimous fan? Unintentional comedy at the ballpark, that's what. Here's the scene: with the Tigers well on their way to a 10-1 victory over the A's … Continue reading →
The other funny bit of video was Porcello's curve ball that destroyed the A's hitter in the 8th or 9th...sat the hitter down on his butt and called a strike. Anyone have it?
It was called a ball but could have been called a strike.
I thought it was a strike...still funny though.
The production from the 1-2 spots so far reminds me of the year Trammel and Whitaker had in '84. They seemed to always start the game getting on and the Tigers regularly had an early 2-0 lead.
At 7-5, all this 1-2 production, while impressive, needs to win the next 28 in a row to be anything like '84.
I read the news today, oh boy .. ..
About a lucky man who made the grade
Definitely (but remember that they are dealing with some injuries now, however that didn't impact their pitching staff).
Torii Hunter signing and Sanchez resigning look damn good right about now
What is that, a Titleist? A hole in one...
All right, Chief, I'm on it!
