Tim Staudt the new "Mr. Transparency"
"If I had an opinion I'd give it to you, but I just don't"
and people say Staudt doesn't read this board
If they archive the shows, its in the 1st ten minutes of the show. Show starts at 9:06 and he said it around 9:15-9:17am.
Audio geniuses, you owe it to RCMB loyalists to track it down and post the sound bite - Classic.
I don't think he reads the board directly. If he ever uses similar phrasing then it's because one of his producers is on here and told him about it.
Timmy has been eating up the airwaves for over 20 years with the same stuff and advertisers have made him a nice living from his part time job.
If there is an Audio God, please grant me one wish and give the RCMB this sound bite. I want it as my ringtone.
It amazes me that people still pay to put ads on his show.
Not to burst your bubble, but he has "takes" like these once per week if not more.
Stay tuned for a 10 minute story about Perles, though.
(Sponsored by one of those scooter companies no doubt.)
Outside of being on vacation, golfing, schmoozing and cueing up sound on DeWitt or Lansing Catholic football (in which the script was written for him by Sampson or some intern) on WILX, how much sports from a state or national level does Staudt take in per week? I'd say less than five hours on average. Beneath the veil of "I just don't really have an opinion" is "I gotta be honest with you, I just don't follow sports that much". And he's on the radio for a sports talk show? It's just a laugh.
The guy won't quit because he still wants to tee it up with Hollis every time MSU hits up a bowl in Florida and he values the connections he's made through the years. A majority of that dries up if he walks away.

Good God people are bitter today. More than usual. What exactly do you expect from Lansing radio? At least he talks about local events and can actually put a coherent sentence together unlike the man who precedes him.
He is unique to Lansing and is really the best alternative to the national focus on the NFL and SEC.
The impersonations are based on things he says. Such as this.
Maybe I'm missing something, but sometimes I don't have a leaning on something and will say so.
Don't forget the Golf Haus...
Try 40 years
"I think the world is run by C students"
honestly, Fort Wayne IN, just a little smallers than Lansing Metro population wise, just started a new Sports station on FM and they have a local show from 3-6 that puts Staudt to shame. They cover everything from local Highschool to National and International stuff in a fun and meaningful way (with opinions). If Fort Wayne can have that type of show and have hosts who've only been doing it for like 2 months and are already better than Staudt that Lansing should expect more.
A Spartan Today, A SPARTAN FOREVER. Through thick and thin, low and high water I strive to be the best Spartan ever.
I have no opinion on this.
Timmy just weighed in on the Payne situation with this valuable insight:
Tim Staudt @timstaudt10 10h
I'm a bit surprised the Adreian Payne story has dragged out this far. What's going on? Amazing no clues from anyone close to the scene.
At least he doesn't give "Huge" opinions like Denard will win the Heisman and UM will go 14 - 0 winning the national championship.
Didn't Read Graham Couch or listen to Ebling last night I see...
Probably too busy talking about his golf game, or his son's at ND and Purdue to focus on any real stories of interest to anyone beyond his 10 regular listeners.
I stopped listening because his constant belief that people care about his own golf game. That's one of four horsemen of the apocalypse of sports media that should get someone fired:
Constantly talking about:
Your Golf Game
Your fantasy team, brackets, or your personal bets.
Your poker hands
Your kids accomplishments
...are ways to get casual listeners to switch channels really quick.
Those four topics should be off limits to sports radio personalities...Staudt does 2/4 of them consistently, and makes his show really hard to listen too.
I'm a bit surprised Tim knows that the Payne draft decision story is even happening.
Anyone. Anyplace. Anytime.
I expect a guy who is on Lansing sports radio to talk about sports...Specifically Lansing sports. He honestly has no interest in them, and often makes sure to remind the audience of that.
I think Jack in the afternoon is striking a good balance.
MSU coverage a majority of the time (especially in season)
Tigers, Lions, and other Detroit sports
Some Lansing HS when appropriate.
With the advent of internet radio, the idea of covering Lansing HS becomes more passé. MSU, however, translates to fans and Spartans nationwide. I'm not sure how much time I'd listen about the Lugnuts and Okemos softball or Laingsburg basketball.
I think Ebling is doing fine. Staudt is still covering Ovid-Elsie girls volleyball harder than he is MSU football. I am surprised that he still can find work.
Remember back in the early 90s when there was semi-serious suggestions about Tim Staudt as MSU AD?
