What a joke of a policy. When is 247 going to just shut down the message boards. They obviously hate the fact they have to run them. I'd try to bring it up on tBB, but I think that is a ban as well. I just wish there was somewhere we could vent our frustrations and get some answers rather than get banned for 'trolling'
I love it. I don't go over to those cesspools anyway and now jackass OSU and UM fans will have to miss out on their own boards as a deterrent.
Going to other teams' boards is beyond pathetic by the way, I don't care what side you're on. You're only over there to start shit up and it makes you look like an obsessed little girl

One of the touted things about the move to this network was the ability to interact with other fan bases. We're pretty tolerant of fans from other boards here, but some boards ban pretty much any rival fan who posts, which sort of defeats the purpose of the network.
They obviously aren't going to shut down the message boards, but message boards are unfortunately not a profit-driver. There is pretty much no money in running a message board. The money comes from selling subscriptions for team coverage and recruiting information.
We're somewhat a unique site within this network and it does cause tension since a good portion of us really don't care about much of the recruiting or premium content, but we want a full-featured message board with lots of features like we had on the vBulletin board.
Is there really no money from a message board? The ads and the volume of traffic we have make no money? If so, that is surprising...
Didn't you quit the board the other day? That didn't last long....
So I was banned on the uofm board until 2020 for telling one of their mods to eff off on the blue board. Am I grandfathered in on the RCMB ? Because I don't want to be banned here for crap I say on the blue board. So tell me my Michigan ban won't effect my RCMB status. I'm just going to stop going over to the blue board. I've only really enjoyed this board anyway, it's got everything you need. Thing is, it's such a great eclectic forum, it should be a stand alone board. I can't believe we'd be banned on this board for telling someone they're full of crap on another board. And you're right, this gives the uofm nancy mods way too much power.

On my account I'm banned and blacklisted. I can't even PM anyone. I know it is easy to make another account, but other sites could start randomly banning people on other sites, and if they are also blacklisted how are they supposed to get a mod? This is going to turn away any new customers that might come here. This is a really poorly thought out idea.
They don't like strange hands in their circle jerk.
WHAT?!?!?! WHEN DID THEY FIGURE THIS OUT?
No. This only started a couple of weeks ago. Bans from before then do not apply network-wide.
We were sold a ton of lies to get us on board with the transition. How feature rich this place was going to be from a message board standpoint, mobile apps, etc.
What have we gotten? A search function that doesn't work. PMs that don't work. Post indicators that don't work. User names that don't work. A list of recent posts that don't work. Jacked up smilies. Moderation tools that don't work. Images that don't always work. Hyperlinks that don't always work. Etc.
This new idea is horrible. And is further indication that they don't give a shit. How difficult is it to enable mods to either ban people on one board vs. network wide? Too fucking difficult I guess.
This was all Snake's idea I bet.
Its pretty clear that tRCMB and 247sports is NOT a good fit.
247 should have just started its own MSU site and called it Sparty247 or something.
It really is funny how tRCMB gets treated from the higher ups, consistently the highest page views(thus highest ad revenue?) across the network yet treated like shit... They love them some fat subscriber base like the Alabama and tOSU sites.
PS Gomer, thanks for mentioning the "mobile app." I forgot that we were supposed to have one of those
35,600 posts and counting since 09-09-2002. tRCMB Dead Pool Commissioner.
The message boards can lead to subscriptions, though. People come, they spend time here, they see the articles being posted, and they might subscribe to read those. We all know that people spend a ton of time using social media. Message boards are a form of social media. The more time people spend on this social media, the more they like it. They feel a sense of community, and that increases the likelihood that they'll buy subscriptions.
I'm really surprised that 247 is so narrow in their thinking. Imagine if a restaurant wouldn't wait on a table unless the customer buys a bottle of expensive wine.

That's why I joined was from the message board first.
Oh yeah, well fuck those guys.
This is a Pallas’s cat. Their round pupils give them an odd human quality. They disturb me...deeply.
Can our MODS ban other boards mods as a pre-emptive strike?
