Ah, ok, sorry, i'm a moron.
Too early still in NZ.
The only legitimate conference in the USA is the Ivy League.....kudos to them for having integrity. Rather than become more like the SEC, I would like to see the B1G become more like the Ivy League and actually have academic integrity.

Okay. Can't really argue there.
Don't post poop!
Even they're not perfect. Been a bit of outrage at ol' Tommy Amaker at Harvard for working to get less than Harvard-quality kids into school.
Yes you can. The SEC is an absolute joke that isn't on an equal playing field. Every school has some bad apples run through. I was kidding about Clarett. F the SEC.
perhaps you took my response a bit to generally.
If everyone in the room that is having a good time is doing so because they're high on blow, then yeah, that's me. And I really care if the ones doing it don't give a shit. I'm not one to give in to peer pressure or be obsessed about what everyone thinks. Your philosophy appears to be that, "everyone else is doing it, and if we don't then we aren't perceived as cool (or in the realm of college football, not perceived as an elite conference)."
I never said that the B1G isn't full of football factories. Not sure how that slipped into your post.
Why should we give a fuck when the NCAA and media do not? Because we (collectively as a conference) should be able to look ourselves in the mirror and say that we still value the student-athletes. If others don't care about that, that's their burden to live with. I don't want that for my alma mater. Following the SEC's lead only hurts the players. Yeah, let's over-sign and then kick a bunch of kids to the curb. I'm not saying that we should go the Ivy League route, but we can't lose ALL sight of what college sports is about. We've lost too much of that already.
And while we may be sitting on this high horse, and we may not win as many national championships, the B1G schools make a shit ton more money than the vast majority of schools in the country, which in turn helps so many more people than just a few football players who might get to raise some trophy.
Keep up with your tunnel vision and call me idealistic, I don't care. There's more to college athletics than just winning football games, especially when most of those games involve someone other than MSU.

There's obviously a strong sentiment by university presidents for there to be some shred of integrity in how football players are treated (i.e. oversigning, four year schollies, etc). I support this, even if it leads to less favorable coverage by "the media."
If treating 18year old kids with slightly more decency than racehorses is nothing more than "self-regulation" to you, then we're done here.
"The RCMB on 247 is one of the most awful, alarming, inappropriate, disgusting, and offensive msg boards in the history of the internet."
What if everyone in the room is doing blow, but there are no hookers involved, however, you notice at some point that there is a small group in the corner playing Dungeons And Dragons and they are all staring your down. You telepathically receive the message "All you have is lost; and all I have I give to thee" over and over again?
In that case, I'd pull out my phone, and post a thread with "Tanfan" in the subject on tRCMB. That would be sure to get the group staring me down to stop and focus their attention on the DSF that would be sure to ensue.

Bucky fan here - commenting because I think UW and MSU face similar challenges in this regard.
Completely agree - and, so far as the big picture goes, I think your coach does as well.
I've thought quite a bit about the oversigning, medical hardships... and I personally have come to the conclusion that I don't need to put a national championship up as the "goal" for UW. Now, I was never a player, so that decision becomes a lot easier, but the fact of the matter is that these teams have so many more opportunities to cover weaknesses that UW and Alabama start miles apart. And at the end of the day, these are amateurs who chose to represent my school. When we recruit them and they sign the LOI, I believe they are entitled to their window of opportunity.
For example, Curt Phillips (UW QB - 3x ACL injuries) could have taken the medical hardship. I'm sure it has been discussed. But he decided to fight past the injuries and got to play QB in the B1G championship game. He's not going to the NFL, but that doesn't mean he should lose the opportunity he seemingly deserved when he was in high school. And I can enjoy the games, even when UW doesn't win, that much more knowing that the UW program is led by people like Phillips.

Texas A&M poached a 4 star from Auburn down the house and has 33 recruits right now
Kevin Sumlin picked up another huge commitment this week with four-star, #1 rated prep school school wide receiver in the country, JaQuay Williams making the call.
5 SEC teams in the top ten for recruiting rankings

I think i what i want most of all is for the B1G to decide what they want to be, and stick with it, because right now we're operating football factories, but football factories that aren't as "efficient" as the football factories down south. So it is utterly pointless, how they're operating at the moment. Not shady enough to win championships, but still shady enough to not have any sort of moral high-ground or superior integrity, despite what some fans want to think.
So, either get to the point where our factories can compete with the SEC, or back off completely and go the Ivy League or University of Chicago D3-route.
Doesn't matter to me, but would be nice to pick one.
D3 is fun, btw. All my siblings competed at the D3 level in college, one at a UAA school, was a blast.
