Maybe the staffs of the Big Ten schools in those four states need to try to produce more talent at the high school level. I mean really work hard. That's what this is about. Working hard. Drive them to camps in the summer, peel oranges and lay them out on the table, tie their cleats up, punch their straws into their juice boxes, bandage their wounds.. that kind of stuff. Roushar can be the carpool driver, but he has to make sure not to stop five or six yards short of the camp parking lot.
The difference between ordinary and extraordinary is just that little extra. You think Dantonio's heart attack was bad? Urban Meyer's health was so bad he had to quit a job. If Jerry Kill had a four star O-linemen for every seizure he had I'd say he was working really hard on the job.
I don't know about this.
There was a period during the 90s where OSU was pretty average.
I think coaching can be a real big deal in college football. I have not been impressed with many of these coaching hires in the B1G. I like the OSU and PSU hire but many of these other hires are big busts.
Dude, MSU won 22 games in 2 seasons with a team comprised mostly of 3-stars, beating PSU, tOSU, Wisky, UM, Georgia and ND in those years.
Stop pretending that all these Big 10 teams suck on the field.
Michigan State does not and will not run the 3-4 defense.
.. yep, nothing. All "Kurelic" ... smh. Typical dumbshit response.
This is a great analysis. Thank you. Is Michigan State really that bound to the local talent? With all those 4 stars surely that would be an opportunity to go down there and get some of that talent. The SEC can't take them all and Dantonio is good enough, I feel, to steal a 5 star if he wanted to. Is it just that he's determined to win with local kids or is it really that they don't feel they can make a splash down there? Serious questions here.
I am a Buckeye...proof there is a God in Heaven who loves me.
I am not trying to argue with the statistics you have posted, but most recruiting services are very VERY biased to the south, meaning they don't have the personnel in place to get an accurate measure on Midwest talent.
Still no source..
You probably have some shit on Shane Jones too and why Ohio State didn't offer. How are we supposed to step up our recruiting in your eyes when you people don't give us credit for the recruits we get?

Check your facts. Ohio State is 6-4 since 2001 and has won 5 of the last 6. The Badgers have been tough on Ohio State and deserve a lot of credit. It's just a good example of what some of the other programs could do. Wisconsin is not a hot bed of football talent but they've done very well.

I think Georgia is considered the South. Check our roster, and then come back.
Your dad was a slimy cocksucker. (My grandpa told me)
I have no need to prove myself to a troll, I'm sorry my posts are not adequate for your viewing pleasure, my highness.
Ohio State hurts its own national perception by getting hit with NCAA infractions. SOS has never affected an Ohio State team coached by Urban Meyer.
Also, read my latest post on the subject.
I was not implying MSU needed help landing him, MSU needed sold on him. Bell was not exactly a hot commodity at RB, OSU staff.. namely LF, sold Dantonio on him because LF wanted to offer him but Tress was not sold.

And how many bowl games did you win? 1? Good job.
How well has the B1G done in recent years in bowl games? The fact is that they DO suck, quit trying to make excuses for yourself.
Yeah I'm trolling a visitor to our board.. makes sense.
What OSU coach told Bell to go to State? Provide some facts or shut the fuck up.
You're absolutely right. I should strive to be more like YOU, an exemplary fan. I'm letting down my program by accepting this mediocrity bullshit. Let me know, please, what steps you took as a fan to improve your team's recruiting; apart from being the only school in a talent-rich region, having the athletic funds to pay $4 million for a national championship coach, and being one of the best programs in NCAA football, of course. I want to hear about what YOU did to improve OSU recruiting. Thanks :)
SOS will become a far bigger issue when the playoffs start, which is why Urban is talking about it. The sanctions will be gone in 2015 and if you think OSU is scary now it's just going to get worse when we get those 3 schollies back.
UM is good for the BIG
Understandable. My question then is why is the perception of Michigan State so far below what you really are? You're a winning program that has owned michigan of late. I know OSU is going to get who they want in Ohio but I would think you guys would be winning more recruiting battles with michigan and even OSU as of late.
There are actual printed sources on the Le'Veon recruitment posted in this very thread that the OSU fans have conveniently ignored.
No, damn, once again you're STILL missing the point.
I would've LOVED to see Bell toting the rock to OSU. He was NOT a big time name.. Tress didn't want to use a scholarship on him and LF was so impressed with the kids natural ability that he literally pushed him to MSU and asked a favor of Dantonio. Look how that turned out.
I never realized Michigan State is a poor community college with no resources. That's terrible, hope you guys can get out of the poor house soon!
I think it's really cool that you can joke about being a drain on society, really. Takes a big man (literally and figuratively) to joke about his lack of social participation. Props my friend.
Your national perception was hurt because your fan base thinks Tattoogate deserved no punishment and only Penn State surpassed you in sheer pissing and moaning, not because of what you did on the football field or who you played against. Go 12-0 not on probation and you will be in the playoffs every single time. After that our "horrible conference" can hurt you no longer.
We're trying my friend. I'm doing all I can here by demanding excellence from my coaching staff. Meanwhile, you can help out our conversation by acquiring some reading comprehension skills. I think that if we both work really hard on the areas in which we are deficient, we can approach a reasonable conversation. Deal?
