WHAT DOES THE BTT DO FOR THE TEAM?????
1) Wears them out
2) Increases the chance for injury.
I hate the BTT.....Just a money deal
"As far as the downvotes. It's a gnat biting an lion"
-- A member of tRCMB Justice League, taking the internet WAY WAY too seriously.
3) earned us a 1 seed last year ?
Just answered your own question. Provides the team with money and exposure.
Don't think -- it can only hurt the ballclub
WHAT DOES THIS THREAD DO FOR THE BOARD?????
Great contribution, thank you
Yeah it's bullshit the B1G is the only conference with a post season tourney.
we would get more exposure winning the natty
the btt is a waste of time for the good teams....
crean knows it thats why they lost today
1) they're like 20 years old. Four days to recover if we play on Thursday.
A #1 seed is clearly at stake for either OSU or MSU should they win it all.
Not according to the selection committee.
They're considering 6 teams for #1 seeds. MSU is probably not one of them. Gonzaga, IU, Duke, Kansas, Louisville and Miami.
more basketball. I like it
uh practice for tournament games? Haven't you noticed Izzo getting the bench players more involved?
No I haven't. Have you?
Just did some research ... since 2000, the eventual national champion won its conference's tournament in 8 of 13 seasons. Coincidentally, 4 of the 13 champions lost in their conference's tournament semifinals. And only one lost in the title game (Kentucky last year to Vandy).
2012: Kentucky lost in SEC Title Game
2011: Connecticut won Big East Tournament after coming in as #9 seed.
2010: Duke won ACC Tournament
2009: North Carolina lost in semifinals of ACC Tournament
2008: Kansas won Big 12 Tournament
2007: Florida won SEC Tournament
2006: Florida won SEC Tournament
2005: North Carolina lost in semifinals of ACC Tournament
2004: Connecticut won Big East Tournament
2003: Syracuse lost in semifinals of Big East Tournament
2002: Maryland lost in semifinals of ACC Tournament
2001: Duke won ACC Tournament
2000: Michigan State won Big Ten Tournament
But since this thread isa bout the Big Ten we should only look at Big Ten results.
Big Ten Tournament Champion (Big Ten Tournament Seed, NCAA Tournament Result
2012: Michigan State (#1), lost in Sweet 16 as a 1-seed
2011: Ohio State (#1), lost in Round of 16 as a 1-seed
2010: Ohio State (#1), lost in Round of 16 as a 2-seed
2009: Purdue (#3), lost in Round of 16 as a 5-seed
2008: Wisconsin (#1), lost in Round of 16 as a 3-seed

2002: Ohio State (#2), lost in Round of 32 as a 4-seed **season vacated
2001: Iowa (#6), lost in Round of 32 as a 2-seed
2000: Michigan State (#1), won NCAA Tournament as 1-seed
Hard to draw conclusions from the BTT Champion becuase conference teams have been generally bad in the NCAAs.
It allows players to get into a better rhythm before the NCAA. I think this was a good game as far as that goes no matter what the outcome is. ALways have to be wary of tiring out players however. ( also injuries)
