Why is that the standard for acceptable behavior after a loss? He's assessing his own part in the effort, and not being smug about it -- just owning up to the fact that he didn't play nearly as well as he had hoped. This isn't Matt Leinart saying "oh, we're still the better team".
Kids execute on the gameplan; coaches (and we armchair QBs) assess the strengths and weaknesses of each team. They see far more of the advantages and disadvantages than the kids do. The adrenaline crash after a game is enough to wipe your mind clean; it's why I listen more to coaches and players on the Monday after a game to understand what they're truly taking away.
Because when you lose, it's almost always, including tonight, because the other team was better. SCummers have always had a problem with that reality.
Guinness makes you drop mud.
Er...okay. So what you REALLY want Denard to say is:
"I made a lot of mistakes, and I didn't play the type of game I really wanted to. But even if I did, we still would have lost because Alabama is a better team."
I see. I understand your frustration now.
I hope one day, this bullshit "Michigan Football" backfires on them, and it becomes their "Same Old Spartans"

No. Listen to Boise's QB talk about State's D and then you will understand. You can say you played bad while giving the other team credit
Uh...no. As I said before, I want him, or somebody, to simply say "they were better than us". I don't expect a SCummer like you to grasp this concept.
"They had a great team. I give them credit, but we didn't come to play ball today. You guys could see that we didn't come to play ball today, and we've got to bounce back from it." -- Denard post-game
"I don't think there was any distraction. We just didn't come out here and execute. They played well. They had a great game plan. They pounded the ball. Like I said, we just had too many missed tackles." -- Kovacs post-game
"They're a good team. We just didn't play Michigan football. We didn't start fast or finish fast." -- Gallon post-game
Am I missing something here? Seems like they're all tipping their hat to 'Bama. I can understand why someone could infer that they're blaming the loss primarily on their lack of execution, but...
Let's compare it to something more tangible: does the guy that places last in the 100m final need to say "Usain Bolt is stronger, faster, and better than me." No, because that guy could go and edge out Bolt in the next race -- it all comes down to execution at the time of competition. Every athlete has enough fight to know that they're always in the game, but the mistakes pile up.

The best he could muster was "they're a good team". Not "they were the better team". Typical SCummer.
Yeah, you're missing that they're arrogant, UofM jackasses!!! Didn't you see the part where Kovacs said "We"??
Perish the thought that a player uses "we" to describe the team HE plays for.
Kovacs isn't a balding, 40 year-old Walmart Wolverine wearing a Navarre jersey, for God's sakes.
We didn't play Michigan State football...but we still won. Suck it walvie!
from my seats in c208, "retard's" armpunts looked in mid-season form.
I called it.
Dang Nucky, did you pick up a thesaurus AND have your parents proofread all your posts? You are a dedicated nut-job, I'll give you that
Now with a PhD in Applied Llama Physics...
i.e. "They're a good team, but we lost because we didn't execute."
That's the closest they'll ever come to admitting they were outworked or just not good enough. Michigan is the only program in CFB that refuses at all costs to admit that they were not the better team in a loss. ever. You hear coaches and players say "we got our butts kicked" after games like the ass handing Michigan got tonight ALL THE TIME. but Michigan? Hell no. They just didn't play Michigan football...and if you don't play Michigan football against a good team you can end up losing like tonight...but it's not because they are better, it's because they didn't play Michigan football.
It's like a fucking cult.
I guess bama wasn't listening when Roy roundtree pointed out that Mich was the defending sugar bowl champion
'Those who make peaceful revolution impossible will make violent revolution inevitable'
- President John F. Kennedy
Those quotes perfectly illustrate um's problem : it still thinks it's an elite, natl championship level football program. They just got bitch slapped all over the field but they refuse to accept reality ...
Seems anytime umaa loses its because they don't come to play and/or they don't play "Michigan football". With few exceptions they can't bring themselves to say the opponent played better.
Kovacs is an exception. When they get their butts kicked he just says it. Robinson believes his own hype and will never admit another team was better.

Agreed. Kovacs was quoted in the freep today as saying exactly that
It took awhile for ND fans to accept they just weren't special anymore. UM fans will get it eventually. UM showed Hoke and Borges just aren't elite (we knew that already), and the entire landscape of college football is different after Bo left. Those days are just never coming back.
And just LOVE how Bama got the gameplan from Dantonio on how to punish UM. Sweet tasting wolverine tears.
That's what Michigan players, coaches, and fans don't get. Saying "we didn't play Michigan Football" is an insult to the team that just beat you. As if your team just had an off day. It's the epitome of being a poor loser and is totally classless.
That's why Michigan and their fans are the most hated in college sports.

Holy shit! Steroids, that's the title to a thread on the Detroit Sports Forums to explain why they lost. The most classless fan base in all of sports!
Some reporter needs to step up and challenge this BS response.
The follow up question should always be:" Well Denard, exactly WHY didn't you play Michigan Football today?"
Scum was so bad they made MSU look bad.
