Frankly, I'd rather have Narduzzi and if not him, Tressell over Fickell. OSU's defense wasn't that good this year (except when they played MSU).
Additionally, Fickell would never be a Spartan. He's a OSU guy...I respect that and there is nothing wrong with that.
Exhibit A: Charlie Weis
From everything I've read and heard, I have to agree. I'd be surprised if Barnett is chosen over him. But...you never know....
Let's hear your prediction on who will leave.
Why is he gone to UC? Didn't the AD who hired MD take off to Illinois?
If you are saying that Weis was a better coach than he was a recruiter I would definitely disagree. ND's recruiting rankings were always top notch under Charlie. His teams just didn't perform on the field. Maybe he was a bad talent scout, I don't know. But ND recruited highly rated players very well during his tenure.
You wonder how much he learned during his years in the NFL. Seems like a guy who saw as much as he has in both the college and pro games would have an advantage.
I wasn't, I guess I should've added more to the answer.
Recruit first/coach second coaches are a bad idea, see: Weis
Because he is good, for one reason. Any AD can figure that out.
This might be a stretch: Is there any chance that a guy like Julian Peterson could come in as a position coach? It seems like Mike Vrabel at OSU is working out very well for them, in terms of recruiting and working with players. I know Peterson is still active in the NFL, but I don't believe he's on any roster. He's only an example, and the first name the came to mind. Would MSU consider a route like that for a position coach? I ask because if Narduzzi leaves and brings some coaches with him, we'll obviously have some vacancies to fill.

Gotta say losing Duzzi and retaining Roushar is my worst fear, which I got ripped for, coming to pass.
No argument there, I just don't think it's a done deal, or that UC isn't looking at other coaches.
Who would rip you for having this fear?
IMHO, it is the worst nightmare imaginable for this program (sans Dantonio leaving).
Has a nice ring to it!
A man's gotta eat!
Absolutely. He's not going to hire an outside guy. And if we get Rousharded on the D side of the ball, we're FUGGED.
I'll set up one of those facebook pictures, "IF YOU DON'T REPOST OR LIKE, NARDUZZI WILL GO TO CINCI"
That'll surely keep him here.
Was told I was a pooosay for saying it could happen. It was probably Punisher, since he likes to follow up on a lot of my posts.
Seems like a logical fit. Interesting to see if he is Cincy's #1 choice or not. The last 2 coaches they hired all had HC experience.

Was it Coach D or Narduzzi who opened up the Moeller pipeline?
I bet they hire Ron English.
"If they want to mock us, I'm telling them it's not over. It will never be over here. It's just starting." - Mark Dantonio, 2007
how about a candle lit rally at cowles house...starts out peaceful, but with each passing hour of his not being resigned to a bigger deal, the crowd gets rowdier and rowdier...until a full blown riot ensues that results in the death of 453 people and property damage estimated at at least $4,000.
If we do hire from within, I think the logical choice along the lines of hiring a position coach who played here is to bump up Tressel and bring in the Bullough that was DC at UCLA and is now a defensive assistant in Cleveland.
Bullough cut his teeth and is worthy of this type of role at MSU. Julian Peterson needs to cut his teeth and work his way up to being worthy of a job at MSU.
This would work!!
JUST read my mind tig.....I've been beating the drum for days he is a GOOD choice at Cinci. HOWEVER you have a very point and I realized it this morning: Cinci has gone with guys that have shown success as HC's at Grand Valley the last 2 hires in Jones and Kelly. Obviously,it's worked out VERY well. The Grand Valley HC now isn't ready for prime time so he's out. But you have a valid point, they might want to stick to that blueprint which would eliminate Duzzi. Hmmmm....
