Looks like it's down to Johnny Football and Manti Te'o. Either way, it's going to make history--Manziel would be the first freshman to ever win it, and Te'o would be the first exclusively defensive player to ever win it (Woodson was also a great returner and played some WR).
I didn't realize Manziel was as good statistically as he is... he actually broke Cam Newton's SEC record for most all-purpose yards ever.
Te'o should win, without him ND would be a 3 or 4 loss team.
Manziel has had the better statistical season, Te'o is the better story. Te'o wins.

Manziel deserves it off pure statistics. He's put up slightly better numbers than Tebow and Cam did in their Heisman seasons
and TAMU would be awesome with Manziel...
Behold the walls of Sparta: 10000 men and every one a brick.
And A&M would be where Missouri is without Manziel.
But one team is undefeated and another lost two games.
It's a weak year in the Heisman crop so it will probably be T'eo although it's a crime he would win and Ndamukong Suh didnt considering Suh changed games the way Te'o doesn't but I'm hesitant that a redshirt freshman would win The Heisman unless he won a national title which Johnny Football won't be.
Do you honestly think ND would be undefeated if they had to play in the SEC West? Manziel has had to face three of the top 7 teams in the country. All 3 of those teams had top 10 defenses (Alabama is #1). In the meantime ND has only played 3 offenses in the top 50 only one of which was in the top 10. We're giving the award to the player not the team. Manziel has had the better year as a player imo.
It should be Manziel. He broke the all-purpose yard SEC record. Next two guys on that list are Cam Newton and Tim Tebow.
Teo should have lost out on the heisman after his poor performance against USC. Only 5 tackles on the day. He had 1 interception, but that doesn't overcome a rather subpar day.
Bang. The post of the thread, right here.
The OP asked for opinions and I gave one. I didn't realize there was only one correct answer to this.
I would vote for Te'o. He's done it all for ND this year, and defensive guys should win it more often imo.
I'm rooting for Teo, but it will be Johnny F

And my point is that the "ND is undefeated" reason just doesn't make sense to me. The award is supposed to go to the best player in the country not the best player on an undefeated team. If you think Te'o has been better than Manziel that's fine. Using ND is undefeated and Texas A&M has 2 losses shouldn't be one of your arguments, though.
Manziel deserves it...Te'o will win it.

It means he and his team met every challenge put in front of them. No other candidate can say that.
If only there was an award given to the best team at the end of the year....
100% Johnny Football. ESPN kept showing highlights saying "is this the game he locked up the heisman?". When is ESPN ever wrong?
Let's see how Teo has performed:
INTs: 3rd in the nation
Tackles: 51st in the nation
Sacks: Not in the top 100
Tackles for loss: Not in the top 100
I have to go with Johnny Football. I hope that him being a Freshman doesn't cause people to not vote for him. I wouldn't hate it if Teo won it though.
the fairy tale story is teo.... but if the award is suppose to go to the best football player.. then it is johnny football....
Dude, he's a middle linebacker.
When ND is in/wins the national championship.
'Football nerds'-What are their WAR stats?
'Blind Side Saps'-Teo's lost a lot and fought through everything
'Stat nerds' - Johnny Football did this great stuff against good teams and he's the best
Me - Le'veon Bell cuz he's the fucking sickest.
I potentially am a homer.
