Like using Dakich for the Indy game, and using Jailin' for the Wolvie/Illini game.
Why do they do this? Do they think the homerism gets them more viewers even though they're pissing off the other teams' fans?

The only advantage I could see is that the homers would know more about their team than a random sportscaster... example, any one of us would know more about the MSU team than any of the sportscasters because MSU is basically the only team we have to pay attention to. However, the advantage is outweighed because they are miserable to listen to if you're not also a fan of that team.
interesting topic here, just to come full circle, does anyone ever think kelser is a homer for some of our BTN broadcasts? obviously its tough to be objective, but i think most people who had no idea who he was would think he was fair
If they didn't Syracuse would never be on TV.
Besides the homer factor, I heard one other game that Jailin did this year. He is one of the worst commentators I have ever heard. Pam Ward level.
I can't figure out why Jailin still is an "on-air" personality. Every time I have heard him on TV or radio it is awful.
"Put your mother in a straight-jacket you punk ass white boy." ~ Mike Tyson
I can't remember which anchor it was but Jailin was on a minute ago doing an interview with sports center about the game and he answered neither of the two questions properly.
He was asked about tonight's game, and he started talking about the whole season.
He was asked about the Big Ten Tourney, and he started talking about the NCAA tourney.
I don't understand how he is employed.
Jailin's cohorts are laughing at his non-sensical jokes so he doesn't call them racist. It's hilarious.
Why does anyone let Jalen talk on the air? He is unbearable.
Jailin has a whiny little girl voice... awful...
Nίκη για MSU
Some Spartans complained about Dakich and his IU homer ism. That may be why he is not doing this game tonight. He has done all other B1G games on ESPN.
You understand that Bardo went to Illinois, right? So tonight Jalen is just a gimmic to balance things out.
As to Dakich, he does the Tuesday night Big Ten games. That's his job. Phil Simms does Giants games, Aikman does Cowboys games, McCarver does Cards and Phillies games. That's just reality.

LOVE that Jalen is calling the game tonight! Anyone else think he's as funny as I do?
He hasn't done every other one, but he has done most. And he did every Tuesday game.
There's the reason. Idiots.
Also, didn't bother to look up Bardo. Sorry.
Every once in awhile, I get a reminder of the age gap. If you'd have to look up Bardo to know who he is, this is one of those times.
I'm 25. But I did not watch that much college ball when I was young. Mostly NHL, motorcycle racing, and Scooby Doo.
99% of color guys (no racist) are former players and it would make sense to put them on the games with the teams they know best.
Bardo - Illinois
McCormick - Michigan
Morris - Northwestern
Kelser - MSU
Steve Smith - MSU
Dakich - IU
Clark Kellogg - OSU
Not all ESPN I know but the list goes on.
Half the roster of CBS guys are Duke grads....Spanarkel, Gminski, Bilas,
I mean Greg Kelser does MSU games on BTN
OMG...Jailin is HORRIBLE.
He also does other B1G games any time he can when the Pistons aren't playing. I've never heard Jailin doing another B1G game.

It's not so much that Dakich has "homerism", he pisses people off because he's an all-purpose, one-size-fits-all doofus.
I read the news today, oh boy .. ..
About a lucky man who made the grade
Bardo is a former Illini player. So I guess it was even
But most importantly.... No Gus.
Hopefully Lenny is back.
True, but Bardo's been a college hoops analyst for years, and didn't refer to players on Michigan by their number. He also knows when he's supposed to speak and when he's supposed to shut up.
Rose had no idea what he was doing. He stepped all over the play by play guy and was just shouting half the time.
Anyone. Anyplace. Anytime.
