The definition of backing in would've been WI not choking at home versus purdue and finishing 13-5 without having to play IU and UM twice.
In 2010 we hadn't clinched. We needed to beat UM the last game for a share. We did, then brought the banner out.
My guess is they'll make the banner and throw it out if it isn't needed. The B1G will probably even have a trophy made prior to the game as well.
Tough team at home? Check. Hungry for a title against a team that has already gotten at least a piece? Check. Did Michigan almost win at Indiana? Check.
They can definitely win and I'm actually anxious to see if Michigan is favored. And duh, of course it will be a Delany special. What makes the Big Ten tournament more interesting to fans considering tickets? Indiana as the clear favorite after locking up the outright title or all four teams that earned first round byes being co-champs and the possibility of a Semifinal Saturday lineup with four teams that were all co-champs going at one another?
There is no doubt about it. If we share the title, the banner should be raised.
Back door championships are not all that great.
Keeping the sunshiners in check since 2000.
I believe Michigan will beat Indiana and that MSU will take care of Northwestern (not a given though). And I agree with the people who want the banner raised. In a league where everybody beats up on each other for 18 games, a conference title means a lot, shared or not.
