Tomorrow in Grand Rapids - one of my favorite events of the year. 6000 people in a parking lot with hundreds of tasty beers - how can you argue with that? We start today with a road trip that includes Dark Horse, Bells, and Founders. Just gotta love how the Michigan beer scene has developed.
We call that Wednesday here in Milwaukee......no but seriously I've been impressed with what MI breweries have done in the last 10 yrs
"love unconditionally". Princess Lacey
I'll be there tomorrow. Gonna be a hoot.
There's a toilet in the kitchen!
I'll be there too. Can't wait!
there is a new law I think in the Michigan Senate that makes it easier and more lenient for breweries and gas stations Etc etc. Good to see they are recognizing a booming industry and trying to capitalize on it to help the state..
---"It's not over and it will never be over here."---
I'll be there. Pregaming too, may be a poor choice. Just FYI last year no one cared about the drink tickets, free for all
Linked for our pleasure.
Good lord. You will be gone!
thank you.... I am mobile on a new phone and haven't mastered copy and paste yet.
Was just at the Microbrew and Music Festival in Traverse City a few weekends ago. Same thing there, many didn't care about the drink tickets. Great times.
I have been getting emails about taking a shuttle to the site. There is a huge lot and parking should not be an issue. Wondering whats up with the shuttles which do not look to convenient. They sold it out in one day! I am glad that I wake up early. Remember dilution is the solution...alternate some water with your beer and don't forget to eat something (pretzels). Lots of port-a-johns thank God.
I got so drunk at last years I almost missed the state game after. Greenbush was a good hit
Anybody got an extra ticket they want to sell me?
"RCMB: You will never find a more wretched hive of scum and villainry." - some dude from MgoBlog
Looks like the RCMB will be well represented. Should we come up with a secret handshake or something?
But seriously, this event alone is what bridges the gap for me between bowl season and spring ball (ok, MSU hoops helps too).
Founders is busting out some serious brews - KBS, CBS, Blushing Monk, Bolt Cutter, Frangelic Mountain Brown. All of them stupidly amazing.
Short's is doing their thing again with Bourbon Huma and probably the best beer name I've seen outside of Bean Flicker, the Stray Cat Street Fighting For The Devil - old ale brewed with granny smith apples and a nice bretty yeast strain.
My buddy and I will be getting there at noon. He has a couple of media passes (he's a local radio personality) which are good for early entry. Gotta head for all the good stuff before they open the floodgates at 1pm.
Finally tracked down a couple of tickets today. One more spartan in attendance.
Winner, winner, chicken dinner.
Have a blast.
Coach Dantonio is my Spartan!
Where did you "track down" a couple of tickets?
Craigslist. I contacted 5 different people and paid a little over face before I finally got the deal done. There have been people looking for up to 100/ticket on CL over the past couple days.
I just checked CL a few minutes ago but didn't have much luck. I saw some guy was looking to exchange a ticket for a ride to the ballpark, but I don't feel like getting cut up into pieces and dumped in the Grand River.
And check out Mittenbrew.com, my son's website, big Spartan fan, as he reviews all MI microbreweries and respective beers. Of course, he'll be there and says it's the best of all festivals. Asked him to report back so I can restock, Michigan is turning out some mighty fine brews!
Yeah, probably not worth it. Its a little late in the game now, but I would recommend re checking CL periodically. Like I said I had to contact multiple people before I got a pair. Also, try checking under detroit or lansing area as well, there have been a few posted there over the last couple days.
Heard on the radio this week that there are a TON of fake tickets floating around on Craigslist for this. The reporter advised to be very careful purchasing tickets that are selling for above face value as they may be counterfeits
This. The organizers voided a bunch of tickets originally bought by speculators, and there is no way to tell if it is good until they scan.
In my experience, there are always people selling them in line. My friend has one; we will be in line by 11 for the VIP entrance. He goes by "wired bald guy" so is easy to spot, and we should be near the front of the line.
Yep, always A FEW people selling in line. Don't count on a lot. Once in line though there are not a lot of buyers.
Pretty cool site, thanks for sharing.
