Yup, Wisconsin basketball still makes me want to drink bleach.
tRCMB - Visit at your own risk of being disgusted.
Bo Ryan must have some sort of cloning machine won in Madison that produces white dudes with sawed off buzzcuts. They look like a really good rec league team yet every year they find their way into the top 4 of the Big Ten somehow. I can't stand the way they play but it's effective.
Nobody should be proud of this kind of play. If I was a Wisconsin fan I would be ashamed. If MSU started playing this way on a regular basis I would quit watching. Disgraceful basketball.
And they did it again this year. First half: Almost 4 minutes before the first basket. The final 7 minutes of the game: MSU 4, Wisconsin 4, two made FGs. Wow.

I'm embarrassed to be an American!
No s#!t. I can barely stand watching it the couple times a year that MSU plays them. If I had to watch that all year long, I'd go back to watching the NBA.
Its butt ugly to watch but Bo Ryan has won a bit over 75% of games he's coached and was at .700 since he's been coaching D1 before this season. He knows how to identify players who can win playing his "Swing Offense". Ryan is also very happy to force other teams to play to the slow pace is offense encourages.
Izzo loves the 3 guard offense and an offense that starts with the 3 guard weave Jud brought to MSU. It can be a bit quicker but its also a deliberate offense that can lead to low scoring games.
If I'm coaching HS or junior high I'm running Ryan's Swing offense because its a system that doesn't rely on stars or shooters. A high school coach I know told me one of his fellow coaches fell in love with Beilein's offense. He predicted doom because he explained Beilein can recruit a lot of 3 point shooters and you don't have that luxury in HS.
I know some of you will downvote me but oh well: I thought Dakich was OK tonight: he said 'LET THEM PLAY' at least four times that I counted......he flat out said it was a joke. So....yeah, he's annoying but I thought he was in our corner solidly tonight.
I'm not going to argue that it does not work. It is great for HS and junior high, and if I was in your position I might do the same thing.
But for a D1 basketball team in a major conference... well, its just kind of embarrassing.
Every time I watch us play Wisconsin, I wish I was blind.
The thing is holding the ball for 32 seconds to slow the game down is a high risk situation. They hit a lot of shots at Indiana in the last 2 or 3 seconds. Those same last second shots failed to fall last night. If they did not get all the offensive rebounds they got, that's a double digit loss for Badgers.
This is true. That being said, I hope they unholy abort the hell out of the Walverines and win 52-39 or something.
Sparty > Walverines
I disagree. Wisconsin basketball is more like a failed abortion. To say something was aborted implies success.

You're in college. The window of opportunity to drink and do drugs and take advantage of young girls is getting smaller by the day.
I have no problem with slowing it down, or making the game defensive. I would be proud of MSU doing that. What i have a problem with is having such a point of emphasis on getting the other team to commit fouls. I have the same problem with Dwanye Wadye, and he couldn't be further from Bo's style.
In what other sport do we consider it ok to focus on trying to get the other team to do something illegal? It's just bad sport.
Don't teams try to get the other team to jump offsides all the time in football?
And Appling has scored a number of points in that semi-stall offense too. Neither team scored much this time. Advantage: team with the lead.
Dakich, for all his faults, likes good basketball and Wisconsin is not good basketball.
I wish the charging foul was eliminated unless the offensive guy has two full steps. This moving in front at the last half step is ridiculous and should be an automatic blocking foul.
I had to DVR the game last night and I may have unlocked the secret to watching MSU/ buzz cut games. When wiscy had the ball, I'd fast forward through the first 27 seconds of their possession and still have time to spare before a shot went up.
It was so much more enjoyable than watching it live. I may record their visit to the Breslin even if I'm available to watch it in real time.
My biggest problem with Ryan is that his swing offense doesn't have to be as slow and deliberate as he plays it. In high school, we basically ran the exact same offense and we had a team that averaged close to 75 points per 32 minute game. It doesn't hurt that I played on a team that had two D-1 recruits (Reece Gaines went to Louisville and had a cup of coffee in the NBA and Louis Monroe ended up playing for Auburn). The difference was, we pushed the ball when we had the chance and we never played a slow down style even in the half court. We'd set picks and swing the ball for open shots, instead of just swinging the ball around the outside for the sake of moving the ball. Ryan seems to want to limit the other team's possessions by taking up 30 seconds of shot clock a lot of the time.
Oh, and this was in a high school in Madison, WI...7 blocks from the Kohl Center. Neither Reece nor Louis wanted to play for Dick Bennett (both would have been freshman the year Bennett quick 3 games into the season citing exhaustion). It would have been interesting to see what would have happened at Bo Ryan been the head coach when they were being recruited. Something tells me neither of them would have wanted to play for Ryan either.
And if the good Lord’s willin’,
I’m a keep on chillin’,
refillin’ and flyin’ high
Bump for a 45-43 game that pre shot clock teams would have been embarrassed to watch.
bump. sooo painful to watch, just threw up in my mouth a little
Let me get this down, $100 million. Oh wait, I have a better idea. Instead of $100 million, how about I send you a hobo's dick cheese?
Dunno about that. I thought Wisconsin played well today...
