JUCO this time
@Evan_Flood: The nation's No. 1 dual-threat JUCO QB Tanner McEvoy has committed to the #Badgers
must make the QB's already on the roster feel really good about their chances of playing college football in madison
i only care about spartans --> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sqsAJQc-NCY
Chances are he won't be playing against MSU next year.
That's interesting - I seem to remember some Badger fans on this board assuring us their QB situation was an area of strength for next season. Why would they need this guy?
True, but it's hard for me to criticize a team that keeps going to the Rose Bowl.
You boners can be such hypocrites.

Did he play one or two years of JUCO ball?
If he's coming in as a Junior, I think it's pretty strange. Most fans were pretty happy with Joel Stave last year and blamed his injury for them losing to MSU. Even if McEvoy redshirts, he's either in the same class as Stave or he'll be a year behind (and in the same class with Bart Houston)
At Utah State, new Badger coach Gary Andersen had mobile QB's (Chuckie Keeton had over 600 yards rushing last year), but supposedly Barry Alvarez made a big deal about Wisconsin not changing their style of play with the new hire.
Stave will be a sophomore next year and probably the starter. O'Brien will be a senior and I would expect he'll be the back-up.
Bart Houston was the #12 QB recruit in the nation last year and played big time high school football for De La Salle in California. He'll be a redshirt freshman next fall and it sounds like he'll compete with Stave.
I think it's always a good idea to have a QB in every recruiting class, but unless he's good enough to play right away, going the JUCO route is not really building depth for the future at QB

And if the good Lord’s willin’,
I’m a keep on chillin’,
refillin’ and flyin’ high
Seriously. We just got our own transfer on the DL. I wonder if the Wiscy board has a thread about our rent-a-DT from Toronto.
no one should ever lose a qb recruit to wisky dicks again. Just show them the mercenary list.
If Johnny Football transferred here somehow and was eligible to play next year it would be the most upvotes thread ever, but I'm sure there is some reason that fits the narrative that would make that different. Brandon Wood says hi.
I think there are two big differences.
1) This will be 3 straight years that Wisconsin brings in a transfer QB of some sort.
2) You only play one QB at a time. The d-line is a position where you always need depth and the MSU transfer player has multiple years of eligibility left
I do think this is a lot different than Wilson or O'Brien for Wisconsin in the sense that he'll have at least 2 years of eligibility after coming from junior college (if not 3...not sure how many years he played in JUCO)
Obrien had 2 years of eligibility as well. He graduated as a rs soph and transferred in for his junior and senior year
We may be in the market for a big man for next year in the graduated senior category, or 2.
How do you compare a position where (@ MSU at least) 4 guys will see extensive time on the field vs a position where only one guy plays unless injured (or consistently ineffective) ? And UW has not recruited their pre season starting qb from HS since Tolzien if this juco starts. That's an alarming stat for a HS qb.

"losing Caleb Benenoch is a blow that Dantonio will never recover from. Izzo has lost it as well. Hoke and Beilein own the state."
By saying the same thing. If you're better, if you're good enough to start or play, beat the other guy out.
Will have 3 years of eligibility left. Won't Red shirt, already used it at South Carolina. I have a feeling Andersen wants a more mobile QB. Houston and this guy meet that criteria. The others on the roster are not overly mobile. Anyone thinking O'brien is even a backup next year is way off. Can't believe anyone thought that guy would ever start/ that Bielema started him at the beginning of the season.
New coach... Meter gets re-set The guy that finsihed the season had about 6 knee surgeries. Can't blame them if they get a guy that is healthy and can do spring practices
MSU doesn't play Wisconsin during the regular season for the next 2 years (barring realignment) and they've got to deal with Urban Meyer every year. Who cares what JUCO they get? MSU gets about 1 JUCO/class under MD (White, Fonoti, Mills and now Bodanis). Non-story.
Michigan State does not and will not run the 3-4 defense.
They needed a coffin, I mean a dual threat QB, they have none on the roster, problem solved.
Given their history its funny, but you can't run read option with the kid Will crunched
He was a project out of high school (WR) and couldn't get to 3rd on DC this past season. Will be interesting to see the offense they run if he actually plays.
lol. I don't understand how any HS quarterback can seriously consider going there.
and for the second time today, after the Dennard PI thread, i am sad again
Seriously, you don't understand why this is hilarious? Wisconsin cannot develop QBs. This is three years in a row they've gone to the transfer well. If we had three point guards in a row transfer in and take over from the PGs on our roster, wouldn't you wonder what was going on with the PG development?
I would be more worried if we had sub par point guards and didn't do anything about it. People on here seem to have more of a problem with the poor kid getting passed up rather than the poor kid getting developed. If you don't play because a transfer beats you out, or you don't play because a freshman beats you out, you're still not playing. College sports it's about W's and L's. Do what it takes to get the W's.

FWIW, I can't confirm this, but a pretty popular rumor on our board was that he left for reasons other than being buried on the depth chart.
He's supposedly bringing a good amount of baggage to Madison.
Wonder what 2014 Wisc. QB commit Chance Stewart is thinking now ?
