Hey, this guy did it and lived his dream:
www.DickProenneke.com - "Alone in the Wilderness" is the story of Dick Proenneke living in the Alaska wilderness. Dick filmed his adventures so he could show his relatives in the lower 48 states what life was like in Alaska, building his cabin, hunting for food and exploring the area. Bob Swerer has taken the best footage from Dick's films and he has created 3 videos about Dick, "Alone in the Wilderness", "Alaska, Silence and Solitude" and "The Frozen North". You can purchase all of them in DVD or VHS format from the www.DickProenneke.com website.
I don't really have a problem working 40 hours a week doing something I don't really give a shit about. But it is a bit of a nut punch when you see that all of our increased efficiency and profits go toward another mansion for a select few that make it to the executive level while our wages stay essentially the same. And no, I'm not saying I don't get raises, I'm saying that they aren't commensurate with the increases in profit. WELLS!
Record-high profits, record low wages.
Tell me about it.
I was supposed to be on vacation this week, until my new boss started in October and decided to black out March-May for vacation and told me I'll have to eat the cost of the trip. Entire company is shut down this Friday except our office, although my boss has the day off. I tried to move things around to get to the game Friday night and was told that this weekend was "mission critical". He has also decided that we must make cold calls Tuesday and Thursday nights. We are not allowed to trade nights no matter what, I fail to understand his reasoning.
He also has had Monday and Tuesday off this week and has taken the last two Thursday and Friday off for "travel" before a conference that starts on Saturday. I have to cover for him at two trade shows in the next two weeks and decided to keep the office open for visitors on this Saturday and a Saturday where I was going to see my father for his birthday. Both are considered "mission critical".
I sure hope my transfer is approved.

Would have left that job by Halloween. Why are you staying? No one should have to put up with that kind of boss.
OP sounds like a whiny entitled panty waste.
I must be crazy to be in a loony bin like this.
My new overlords are very well connected in my industry. I am working on transferring to a new department but it's a long process due to my sales cycle. If I just left I would of killed my career, although many times I think that sounds like the better option.
Seriously though, if you hate your job, get out of it.
If you are still relatively young make a career change or go back to school.

Shut up Ross.
Your a retard.
The thing is, you're still getting paid even if the company shows a loss. If the profits went primarily to the workers, there would be no incentive for anyone to aspire to move up.
8x10 cube? Shit son, you are living the good life. Im stuck in 6x6 one. Suck it up!
Good luck to you. It sounds awful. Hope you get the transfer.
Life isn't about upward mobility, aspirations, or motivation, but merely fairness. If anyone makes more money than you it is not fair and they are therefore a greedy and bad person. Geez, don't you watch the news or political speeches?
The key to not wasting your time is to do something useful. Try this.
On Mondays and Tuesday, make a list on an excel spreadsheet of all the chicks that that you went to 1st base, 2nd base, 3rd base, 4th base and then home base. Make the list in the morning and then recheck this the list in the afternoon for any omissions.
On Wednesday, make the same list, but include all the chicks that you could've and should've done and add them to the list.
On Thursday, add another section to the spreadsheet of the broads that you wanted to put on the list.
Friday, delete the file because you worked real hard this week and need a break. Retool and get ready for next week.
can people please stop quoting sheed...TIA
