Can you just never mention either of those events ever again? I am still pissed about it and it has only been more than 20 years ago. It caused me to draw my breath and now you have ruined what little remains of my day.
Travels. No call.
Steps out of bounds. No call.
Tosses the ball into the stands. No call.
All of that happened with plenty of time on the clock to call something. Notice Jim Burr was involved.
If you go by the rules, it's not a judgement call at all. It's black and white. In this case, the shooter committed a lane violation. However, if this was 5th grade girls, you are correct - it's a judgement call. I'd let it go, and use it as a teaching moment. There was no advantage/disadvantage so I would tell the girls the rule, and let her reset and shoot again. If it was high school, I would make the call per the rule. BTW, the time limit for FT's is 10 seconds, not 15.
Ugh I hate Jim Burr ten times worse than Hightower. No question about it.
