I guess Apple is following Amazon's lead. on this one.
A full 52 percent of consumers surveyed by PriceGrabber said they'd consider buying a miniature iPad this year. Read this blog post by Lance Whitney on Apple.
Isn't that what an iPod touch is...?
My first thought, as well. I figured this was an Onion article until I saw the source.

Before you ask, yes, I am a girl.
If some survey said some people would buy flying Taurus, that doesn't mean Ford is making one.

Almost same size as my Nook. And that does apps and internet too. But my Nook only cost me $149.
Well that's bizarre. An iPad 4, 6 months after the iPad 3?
it's cray... it's almost as if they want people to keep spending their money.
I wish I could figure out a way to take advantage of stupid people. I might just start selling crack or meth.
it almost makes sense...... we can see some joined up pricing between the Ipad mini and the Ipad 4......same connectors as the iphone 5 and LTE...... but where does that now leave the Ipod touch?
I was debating on getting the mini, but if the refreshed ipad has LTE.... it has given me a touch choice....
Million dollar question. Answer should be coming soon.
Weird. Wonder how that doesn't totally cannibalize iPod touch sales.
okay... the high end of the spectrum, but I can live with that.... my biggest thing was could i justify getting an iphone5 and a ipad.... maybe-ish, iphone and ipad mini.... yes-ish.... lol
Well that is a stupid price. The Kindle Fire HD has better specs (and is pleasant to use) at $199. I guess its just the Apple premium...
It had been a wonderful evening and what I needed now, to give it the perfect ending, was a little of the Ludwig Van.
That seems to be the theme with many Apple products, yet people keep throwing their wallets at them.

329 is a hotcakes-level selling price in the minds of likely Apple consumers.
Haven't been following this Apple product announcement, but I just noticed that Apple stock is down to 617 and dropping. That is more than 2.5% on the day.
Alright, I'm getting back in line!
But Apple products are made by more skilled workers with higher quality materials!!!!
I agree, especially considering that the iPhone opens at $199 with a new contract. For me, $329 is too much given the alternatives. I'll pay the Mac-charge, but not that much. At $250, I would have been giving at least one mini as a Christmas present, but not at $329.
"Need to" is pretty subjective. Chances that Apple doesn't make zilly dollars from this are zero.
