When the D needed to get off the field at the end of the game, he shredded us. He moved the goddamn ball at will for 4 quarters and the only thing that kept us close were 3 turnovers, one of them coming on a play where he was injured. Tell us more tales about this great defense that couldnt stop Mark fucking Weisman in the 4th quarter on Saturday, and hasn't so much as breathed on a QB all season.
It's not 2011, and Jerel Worthy isn't walking through that door.
Are we talking about the same Mark Weisman that has 100 carries for 631 yards and 8 TD in four games? No-talent scrub.
"Moved the goddamn ball at will for four quarters" One of the dumbest fucking things I've seen on here. 17 points, 383 yards against a team that has put up 115 points and 1100 yards the last two (conference) games.
This defense has sucked at making "big plays" I agree, but they 100% did enough to beat Ohio State. You can swear at me all you want, you're not winning this debate.
+ a zilly for Punisher99 bringing it STRONG in this thread...
The D has played well enough to win every single game. The O just flat out sucks balls and I hate watching it. Hate it. I hate the overthrows and the drops coming from a qb with no touch. NONE. There is no imagination on offense. NONE. MSU's only hope is if Sims returns and plays out of his mind. MSU will need to get into the high 20s to win. I don't see that happening unless we get two pick sixes from the D. Unlikely since we now get 0 pressure on the qb.
Keeping the sunshiners in check since 2000.
Not laughing or making any bold predictions until I see the O score 3 TD's in a game as a result of drives.
Is this a joke?
#1 in Total D, Scoring D, Rush D in the B1G and top 25 nationally in all those categories + Pass D
One player amasses 300 yards of total offense against MSU, when MSU is giving up around what, 270 a game to an entire team and thats shutting him down? Pull your head out of your ass, son.
Look man, we did force a few turnovers out of Miller, but to say we held him in check in assinine if you look at the stats. MSU needs to force at a bare minimum 2 turnovers from Denard. However, I wonder how much UM coaches will put Denard in compromising positions to turn it over because MSU cant score. It might be another Brian Kelly game plan, just run a lot of vanilla stuff, get a few TDs, and laugh at MSUs offense trying to score.
They were up 7-0 last year and didn't trail until the 3Q
Take it easy big guy. We arent saying MSUs D is bad. It is good enough to win the Big Ten. Its the fact that you refuse to look at what has actually occurred on the field against OSU. OSU moved the ball all day on MSU, pretty much at will, thats a fact bro. And UM runs a similar offense, running QB and a lot of spread formations.
Agree completely, although I think the most important elements for keeping Robinson in check (LBs and DEs) are among the strongest components of our current defense.
Not arguing about the offense. I hate it too
Its not a "fact" at all. Its your opinion.
They average 40 ppg and 450 yards and put up 17 points and 380 yards on us. With three turnovers. Fact.
Not JT or BWC
Ryan is a good player and has improved from last year.
Lack of success? He wasn't even the starter; I think he had one carry.
Lol. Can I live in your world? MSU gave up 200 yards rushin to OSU. Please tell me how great the D was that day again.
The defense was very strong against Ohio State. That's fine that you disagree, you're wrong.
It was more a response to (another) bullshit claim by UM fans that Bell has sucked against them.
Thanks again for coming onto our board. Really seems to be an interesting life you lead invading other teams' message boards. Truly pitiful
Bell wasn't a starter either and only had 7 carries vs Michigan last year, but it didn't stop a Michigan fan from popping up and talking about Bell's "lack of success" versus Michigan.
Again, don't let your facts get in the way of the troll's arguments.
So giving up 200 yards rushing to a spread team is playing very strong?
Its a yes or no question. If you answer yes, why should anyone ever read what you have to say on a subject? You cant be rational or objective when discussing MSU.
Thats besides the point. The statement of "Bell has had a lack of success against UM" is true. Now, we can argue why that is, like limited carries last year and the fact Rock tore them up, but it is what it is. Bell hasn't really had much success against UM, thats a fact. Not a hard concept to grasp.
Maxwell also had no TDs versus Michigan last year. I think that's the stat that we should be focusing on.
Whatever shall we do?! Whatever shall we do?! What a nancy.
Who do you think our defense more closely resembles?
Notre Dame, Bama, 2010 Michigan State, and 2011 Michigan State (who Robinson absolutely sucked against)?
Or UMass, Air Force, and Illinois?
The last time he faced a defense that was stronger than a wet piece of single-ply toilet paper, he threw four interceptions and lost a fumble. Until proven otherwise, I'll believe that Denard Robinson alone is going to keep it a close game.
We gave up 200 yards to a (power) spread team because we couldn't handle Braxton Miller's strength and lateral quickness. When have we ever had trouble tackling Denard Robinson?
OSU is averaging 262 rush yards per game.
I'd say only giving up 200 is playing strong and forcing a fumble is playing strong
