Bauer isn't a FA until after 2018 season too. Really surprised Shapiro pulled this off.
SIPPY CUP IS GONE!!!!!!!
@NOTSCMLB: In an effort to counter the Rays-Royals blockbuster, The Reds, Indians, and D-backs team up to trade up to 10 people no one even knows.
I know Choo is pretty well known but I still chuckled.
Brantley to LF?
Who's going to play RF this year if Swisher doesn't sign? Canzler?
They'll choose one lucky fan before each game and let them handle right field.
Don't plan on keeping the uniform if you're selected.

You shut you're whore mouth. Never speak that name again.
Have you given him a chance? I didn't think too much of him before but I absolutely love him now!
Canzler claimed off waivers by the Jays today.
I'm not up to date on the whole situation, but do we have a realistic shot at signing Swisher? Or should I avoid getting my hopes up?
They wined and dined Swisher last week. Heard they offered 4 years not sure on the amount. He has 2 standing offers and a few other teams are still interested.
Meaning Shappy took him to Cracker Barrell and had Nick pick up the tab.
I heard the offer was around $12 mil/year.
4yr/$52mil is the reported offer to Swisher from the Tribe.
4 year/$56 Million. Welcome to Cleveland Nick Swisher.
Outfielder Nick Swisher has agreed to a four-year, $56 million contract with the Cleveland Indians, a source told ESPN.
You can't honestly think this is a good move?
Dude...we are the Indians...yeah I think it's a good move. At least I've heard of this guy. Much better than tossing some hack out there that we signed off free agency after he was cut by the Astros to bat .188 with 3 HR's and 17 RBI's like we usually would do...
I like that they signed a RF bat but that's a lot of money.
I guess this is a sign of things to come. Swisher isn't worth 14 million, and Sanchez isn't worth 16, but I guess that's the going rate now.
you will hate this deal when it has 2 years 28 million left on it, hell I won't be surprised if you hate it by the All Star Break
Come on man, I'm an Indians fan. Can't you just let me have one minute of relative joy without killing my hopes? Sheesh. Just trying to be optimistic over here and you're comin' in here killin' my buzz.
I agree, it is a lot of money. But let's not pretend they would have spent it elsewhere. The Dolans would have pocketed it if they hadn't signed Swisher. They would have played the "we took a hard run at Swisher and unfortunately failed" card to justify their failure of an offseason.
It's a good baseball move. We learned that the market was COMPLETELY fucked up early in the offseason.
What can ya do about it? It's refreshing to see the front office land an established, productive player who is still kind of in his prime. The contract is probably going to be bad, but this is one of the rare cases where I say "whatever" to that.
For the Tigers fans in this thread, at Anibal Sanchez for 5 years, $80 million. Christ. What would Charles Nagy have earned in this day and age in his prime? $20 million?
