I didn't get out much this past year the only one I saw was Lincoln. I was hoping to see James Spader get nominated for Best Supporting Actor.
The directing category is shocking. No Tarantino, Affleck, or Bigelow. Also the Academy hate for Nolan films continue, TDKR couldn't even get a sound or visual effects nomination?
Flight was the best movie I saw this year. Should ransack the oscars. Suprised Cloud of Atlas didn;t get a nom. It wasn't very good, but it was better then Tree of Life that got one.
He stole the movie Lincoln.
Is there anyway DDL doesn't win?
The general lack of Moonrise Kingdom annoys me since I thought it was a great movie and the best I saw this year.
Seen Flight,Lincoln,Zero Dark 30,Argo,Life of Pi,Django. Lincoln should win although Flight was pretty good. Goodman rocked as the drug dealer.
Jen Lawrence should get an Oscar for being so damn sexy.
Forget 24. The only thing you need moving around in boxes on your screen is one of America's next great actresses, with a little Black Keys for good measure.

Flight looked horrible in previews. Surprised to see it as Oscar worthy. Seemed like a movie done twenty times before. Guess I'll have to give it a shot
It was one of the best movies I saw all year.
I also saw Argo, Life of Pi, and Moonrise Kingdom, and I thought it was better than all except MAYBE Argo.
There's a Spartan nominated. David Magee for screen writing "Life of Pi". MSU '84.
We went to high school together in Flint...
Ranking the Oscar-ish movies I've seen this year:
1. Django Unchained (far and away the most enjoyable movie I saw this year, not that that every means anything)
3. Silver Linings Playbook
4. Flight (way too long and kinda lame after the first 30 minutes, but still better than ...
288. The Master
Will probably see Zero Dark Thirty this weekend now that it's finally playing near me. Will get to Lincoln at some point.
tWife and I see all the best picture noms every year. We are only 4/9 of the way through this year but it is exceptionally better year than the past few. Life of Pi, Silver Linings, and Argo were all excellent. This year rivals 2007.
Seen every BP nom but Les Mis and Silver Linings. The 7 BP noms I've seen were all good. Django is my favorite of the year and glad to see it nominated. Glad to see Beasts of the Southern Wild get a nomination, didn't think it would. It's a great little movie and I hope a lot more people see it. Out of 10 possible nominations only doing 9 and omitting Moonrise Kingdom and Dark Knight is a slap in the face.
watching Les Miserables right now, do they just sing in this movie
I read this earlier today.
Can't believe people care about who wins.
A version of this story first appeared in the March 1 issue of The Hollywood Reporter magazine. One of the 371 members of the Academy’s directors branch recently invited me over to his office to listen in as he openly deliberated about how to fill out his final ballot for the 85th Oscars.

Just saw ARGO this morning. Amazing movie! I've seen Silver Linings and Lincoln and I think ARGO is much better.
