Always think of this song when I hear any mention of Aurora Borealis:
This is the first track of the recently released Chrome Dreams (Rust Edition). This album is essential to any Neil Young fan.
A society grows great when old men plant trees whose shade they know they shall never sit in.
Dammit. This blows. FIrst DXpedition to Yemen in a decade and a damn geomagnetic storm is going to screw my chances of working them.
Weekend bump. If you're up north keep your heads up. Things heating up, Kp 5.33 now with a couple CMEs hitting us in the next couple days.
CME hit this morning. Decent chance for mid-latitude auroras, especially for the Yoopers.
Outside of a dog, a book is man's best friend. Inside of a dog, it's too dark to read. - Groucho Marx
Yep. K index of 6.
I read a newpaper article a few weeks ago that said 2013 would be a very good year to see auroras. Travel agencies are even promoting trips to Alaska to view them.
Last week I saw what looked like a good deal for a trip to Iceland, once I added on an extra night and an excursion or two out to see things(including a night trip for the Aurora) it got expensive fast. Still haven't gotten to see it yet...

Keep the eyes up tonight after the clouds clear up.
An solar flare Thursday morning will cause auroras Saturday night. Which areas will have the clearest view?
Nice find. Will definitely look for this.
Looked at the radar of the state and every worthy northern destination is covered with clouds and possible snow showers for tonight. I wanted to make a drive to and past the bridge to watch this. Looks all covered up.

Weather channel is showing 'mostly clear' after midnight in EL. I haven't seen any other predictions.
Tried to find a clip of the Simpsons scene on YouTube but didn't have any luck

Moderate geomagnetic storm last night and ongoing with a Kp of 6. Cloud cover in Michigan robbed us, as aurorae were visible as far south as Nebraska.
Mmm steamed hams!
