I think 2013 will be the year of Brendan Smith. Here are some of the Griffins leaders. I do hear Mrazek is killing it and maybe the best goalie in the AHL.

our swiss cheese defense scares the bejesus out of me
Wojo column from today
The important news is, the league is back. The sobering news is, nowhere in the agreement is it written the Red Wings are guaranteed to make the playoffs. The last we saw them, they were biding farewell to superstar Nicklas Lidstrom after a first-round exit. Now, with a condensed season and holes on defense, their gaudy 21-year post-season streak is at stake.
JFC beal the puck hasn't even dropped and you're bellyaching harder than ever. Dude, be happy for 1 day!
It's my inner yin/yang. I am VERY happy (proudly strutting around town in my jersey today), but that piece of my brain in the back keeps dinging :)
and seriously, this is bonertime
06.01.2013 Павел Дацюк сотворил выдающийся шедевр - и, тем самым, принес победу ЦСКА в серии послематчевых бросков
its no Bertuzzi spin o rama :)
Big Bert performs a great spin-o-rama winning the game for Red Wings.
Detroit Red Wings vs Phoenix Coyotes
We had every indication that he would not be returning regardless of season length...
Joe Louis West out there.
Nice article on Homer.
Holmstroms willingness to go where no one else would go the front of the net earned him a distinguished career with the Red Wings, but one that hes ready to call over. He informed the club Monday afternoon that hes done playing.
So the Red Wings will not make the playoffs if this comes to pass.
The NHL lockout is over, and most of the players (not Lubomir Visnovsky, though) who kept their games sharp in the KHL have returned to work in the United States. Washingtons worst place.
It's impossible for him!!!!
What is that, a Titleist? A hole in one...
"According to Brooks, Malkin, Ovechkin, Kovalchuk, and Datsyuk were prepared to announce on Friday that they would remain in the KHL regardless of how the latest CBA discussions concluded. Brooks reported that Vladimir Putin himself guaranteed the four players $30 million each to stay. The NHLPA talked the big four out of that deal—presumably by guaranteeing them that labor peace would soon arrive, which it did—but the KHL hasn't quit yet. Malamud reported today that the energy kingpins who own Kovalchuk and Datsyuk's teams are presently preparing more tempting offers to keep them around. Maybe they'll get their own mines and refineries, or something?"
Thank you, Denicos.
It's a deadspin article and even the writer doubts it will happen, wake me up when something more concrete comes out.
FUCK YOU RUSSIA
Pavel would come back, he knows how adored he is.

ah, thought it was puck daddy for a hot second
"CSKA and SKA are both in Kontinental Hockey League action on Tuesday. Pavel Datsyuk had played for CSKA during the NHL lockout, but won’t appear in their game, apparently on his way back to the Detroit Red Wings. Ilya Kovalchuk had played for SKA during the NHL lockout and … is in the lineup."
Sounds like Ilya is a solo act.

Yep. Looks like those rumors aren't going to come to pass, but things are clearly pointing to Datsyuk leaving for the KHL when his contract expires in Detroit at the end of next season. There is probably no way the Wings can match the KHL contract he'd get.
Money, wanting to go home.
I'm sure Svetlana takes good care of him regardless of where he's playing, though.

That and Putin and the unlimited power he has is rolling out the red carpet for NHL players to play in Russia.
Moar Russian chicks!
There's a toilet in the kitchen!
I'm ready for them to release the schedule so I can figure out what day to attend the auto show and piggy back it to a wings game.
Then pretty much say screw the NHL till the playoffs (as much as it kills me, they deserve it).
Just to settle people's minds....
Gary Greenstin told the Free Press that Datsyuk, who has been playing for CSKA Moscow in his native Russia during the lockout, has the OK from the Wings to play in this weekend's KHL All-Star festivities in Chelyabinsk, which isn't far from Datsyuk's hometown of Yekaterinburg.
Once that's over, Datsyuk is coming back to the Wings.
"Pavel loves Red Wings organization. He make his name in Detroit," Greenstin said today. "He belongs to them, and Detroit belong to him.
"He has permission to play in All-Star Game. He had reservation to fly the 11th; now I believe he will fly the 14th."
The Detroit Red Wings are expected to open the season at St. Louis on Jan. 19 and then play at Columbus on Jan. 21.
