Well- It seems like a battle is forthcoming at castle black between a leaderless night's watch and the wildlings. Just seems weird that the leader of the night's watch is killed and there is no follow up.
I don't think they showed him actually finding it, but I think he tells Gilly he found it at the Fist of the First Men.
Seems like the White Walker died pretty easily. Unless there was something magic about the knife or SAm you just need to stab them, seems an arrow would do the trick too.
I remember him talking about it a few episodes ago. Did he just pick it up while travelling? I don't recall where he got it though.
Your a retard.
And that's exactly why the wildlings are choosing to attack there and now. Jon told them that the rangers were out beyond the wall and Castle Black was poorly manned. Nobody aside from Sam, Gilly and the people who take part in the mutiny knows that the commander is dead.
Fire is the only thing that kills a white walker. The dagger is made out of obsidian which is frozen fire. I think they explained this in one of the episodes with Dany or earlier with the Night's Watch.
Well, the rest of the Nights Watch at Castle Black has no idea what happened north of the wall. It will all come out soon. Jon Snow is with the wildling expedition force tasked with attacking Castle Black from the South.
Remember Commander Mormont asked Sam the Slayer to send a raven to Castle Black to alert them but he never got the raven off in time.
Everything sorts itself out after Castle Black is attacked.
+1 for correct spelling
Remember they dug up the black cloak filled w daggers and arrowheads on the fist?
There will be, the show seems to follow the book in which certain plots are dropped for a while while other things progress to keep the timeframe correct even if it seems like a while between mentions of two plot points. Keep in mind that the books are written in long chapters of certain POV characters, so they rarely touch on a topic without enough plot movement to base a chapter around it, hence why the only stuff about the Night's Watch has been focused on Sam and Jon right now.
Fire is the only thing that kills a Wight, so far shown the only thing that kills a White Walker is Obsidian. There isn't at this point a proper explanation for what Obsidian is minus some history that says it was used by the First Men.
Did they show that? I feel like they went over the whole Fist story line so quickly. Nice memory.
Obsidian is a type of rock formed by cooled lava. It only takes a small leap of logic to understand how that might be connected to being able to kill the white walkers (if fire was said to be their only weakness). I don't actually know if they specifically mentioned obsidian in the show but to me that is what it looks like from my own experience.
Yep - there was a scene where Sam, Grenn and Dolorous Edd found it while they were digging latrines just before the Fist was attacked.
So Dragons vs. White Walkers = Alabama vs. Michigan 2012.
No, that was more akin to Ser Ilyn Payne vs. Ned Stark.
I'm going from book explanations up to this point in the show. And real world obsidian vs. Westeros obsidian is not considered the same thing. Obsidian is considered a lost art, even to the Maesters of the Citadel in Westeros, so it's not the same as real world rock.
They've never once said that in the books. You're thinking of Valyerian Steele, which IS a lost art.

Ah shit you're completely right, it's been a while since I read the books, the passage I was thinking about was Valyerian Steel.

I made it maybe 30 seconds into that before my ears started to bleed.
Looks like DatBull has a chance after all.
Minecraft already taught me how Obsidian was made thank you very much.
