Single stack? I want one, but no one near me can get them.
I believe they only use that on their rifles. No idea how you would do something like that with a pistol.
Not sure where you're located, but my favorite local place has 3 used and 5 new in stock. So they can't be THAT hard to get.
I live in Colorado so I can't help you with MI stores. They are very common out here, but getting one on consignment is tough, they are going like hotcakes.
Glad this thread popped up today as I'm heading out after work today to pick up a Ruger 10/22. Not only is it a great zombie weapon its great for when my friends and I hop in the truck and drive to Wyoming to clean up their prairie dog issue.
"On 4th and inches I'll take the whiskey drinkers over the milk drinkers any day"
you think a .22 is killing zombies bro?
maybe the children ones.
Given the cost of ammo ($20 for 500 rounds) makes it easy to have enough ammo for the hoards that will be pouring through the neighborhood, I'd say yes. Plus the .22LR has enough stopping power at 100yds to penetrate the cranium and stop any zombie from getting close.
I'd say there are a plethora of AR's that would do a better job but the ammo availability and cost make it tough to maintain through a whole calendar year of zombie hoards.
hmmm....here's my zombie weapon
"Having fun shooting" and ".45 ACP" don't get along. Too expensive for ammo.
And as for a shotgun for home defense, next time you think you can just fire in the general vicinity, go to the range and shoot at a target from 10 yards away. You'll find that you still need to be somewhat accurate. Pellets don't expand that much that quickly. It's a bigger hole than a 9mm for sure, but still requires accuracy. And you've got to keep in mind the close quarters of a home defense situation. Trying to go around tight spaces with a 26 or 28" barreled shotgun will prove cumbersome.

Disagree on the SR9. I really don't like that gun. Small? yes. More accurate than it probably has a right to be? yes, with practice. However, it becomes a pain (literally) to shoot after about 50 rounds even for most men. Probably not a good choice for a woman. FWIW, my wife and I have been looking at pistols for her and have shot a wide range of them. She hated the SR9 and the Beretta Nano.
Absolutely LOVED the M&P shield in a 9mm. And who could blame her? That gun is fantastic. For her, that gun fit her perfectly and I was actually shocked at her accuracy with that compared to the other ones we tried for this reason. Of course, everyone knows this is a great gun and that's why it takes about 6 months to get one. We're on about 10 waiting lists with hundreds of names in front of us.
EDIT because I'm an illiterate moron. I thought you were talking about the LC9, not the SR9. I've never shot the SR9.

Where are you located/looking? Try out the M&P Shield. Can get one in a 40 and one in a 9. Problem solved. Single stack though so you'll be limited to 8 rounds in a 9mm and probably 6-7 in a .40.
I posted in another thread about a S&W and in that thread everyone said to spend the extra couple of hundred and get a Glock.
I'll keep they in mind when I'm out and about this weekend and next week.
You thinking the SR9 or SR9c? Just not sure why you'd cross shop the Nano and a SR9?
I listed the SR9 last for a reason, but if money is an issue and it fits the hand, I didn't find it that objectionable. I only put about 50 through it, though. (Belonged to a buddy and we swapped for a few minutes at the range)
The M&P series is very nice. I ended up getting a much better deal on a XDm and have now sort of fallen in love with that series, but the M&Ps I've shot have always impressed me.
I swear Glocks are the BMWs of the gun world. Great products but the owners make me want to buy something else.
There is a reason why the Glock 17, 34 &35 are used by about 74% of the Production Division shooters at the USPSA Nationals every year.
Yeah, my bad. I was thinking you were talking about the LC9. I can't read today. It's been a long week.
Oh yeah. Entirely different. I've got an LC9 and it's a nice winter coat pocket carry piece, but that's about it.
It reminds me (for obvious reasons) of the LCP .380, which, as a friend of mine stated "I hope the noise scares them off, because otherwise I'm going to have to throw it at them if I want to hit anyone with this damn thing."
Can't go wrong with a Colt AR! Have you checked out BCM? I've heard nothing but good things about them and they're similarly priced but offer a wider variety of options.
I have a couple 6920s. One I hooptied up and the other is still bone stock. Closest thing you get to a real M4.

Glock 19 is a pretty sturdy mid-frame 9mm. I have had mine for 3 years, and never had a single issue with it. I also have a S&W Bodyguard .380, great little pocket gun but wont hit much of anything after about 15-20 feet.
I also agree with the 10/22 as a fun rifle. I picked mine up lightly used and have not regretted it, you can find replacement parts or mods all over the place if need be.
Remington 870 pump...best selling shot gun of all time and one of the best ever made. Buy a used one from a gun store.
