Latest rumors that make me weep are that the Verizon version will run the Qualcomm S4 because the quad-core Enyxos doesn't support LTE.
Still going to be a massive upgrade over my Palm Pixi Plus.
Come 3 May 2012, the universe as we know it will be changed once again. Be the first to witness the dawn of the next GALAXY with Samsung Mobile at http://www.TheNextGALAXY.com.
My Galaxy S2 Skyrocket has been the shiznit. You can't go wrong with this S3 even if the phone is on that crappy Sprint network.
Show is starting. There's apparently a small orchestra inside the auditorium. Strangely zen vibe to the presentation.
I know I couldn't go wrong...but god it would have been nice to have that quad core Enyxos. Really the only thing I fear is that something stupid happens and american carriers don't get this phone for like two months.
Bang. Features are out.
4.8inch screen, Quad core enyxos, Super AMOLED HD. Apparently the screen is still PenTile, which in laymans terms means it sucks compared to what it could be.
Bunch of social features integrated with camera, but no optical improvements.
8.6mm thick, 133grams in weight. Doesn't appear too different from the Nexus.

Damn, I wanted to start this thread.
Those hoping for mind-blowing specs will be disappointed.
El Presidente is talking now...seems like they have serious focus on UX features (some weird stuff about eye tracking and knowing your intentions).
Looks pretty nice. Glad to see a thin bezel and thin profile, but it still looks like a huge phone. 4.8" might be too large for my tastes.
Having messed around with a Note, 4.8 is fine by me.
Still would rather add a millimeter or two for extra battery. Battery is listed at 2100 mAh.
Does seem to have a lot of intuitive design advances, though. Telepathic Siri, some nifty accelerometer-based stuff.
Hoping that this thing comes out soonish, but I'm really not holding my breath. Bah.
"tOfficial iPhone-wannabe by Samsung thread"
Seems like a lot of similarities with the iPhone 4S launch...all those hoped-for hardware improvements over the previous iteration never materialized.
Launching in Europe at the end of May.....and coming to the U.S. in "Summer." Damn you Samsung.
I really wish the manufacturers would stop shoving their add-in crap into these phones. Android 4.0 is so nice, just leave it alone.
eventually companies will learn you don't launch and say it will be available "summer". Have a date ready or delay the announcement.

May 29th for Europe. Awesome. So tired of the US lagging so far behind in releases.
The PenTile screen and the so-so battery size would be acceptable....if I wasn't forced to wait a zilly months for it to come out with an inferior dual-core processor on Verizon.
New verb: I've just been Samsung'd.
I'll be interested to see what happens here. They specifically said that 3G was coming first, and then LTE later. I wonder if the US doesn't even get the 3G version, and they move straight into the LTE. If the phone comes out in June/July with LTE and quad core in the US, that could be pretty big. If, on the other hand, it comes out with LTE and a dual-core, then their phone is irrelevant.
Yeah, in the live stream she build up to "And now the moment you've been waiting for! You want to know when you'll be able to get this device in your hands. Well, wonder no more...because today...is the day...that we answer that question. The phone will be available later, and if you're in the US, just sod right off."
Dual core + LTE + delay = rage.
Without Apple, there would be no Samsung.
Welcome to the tech industry. Shoulders of giants and such.
Don't forget TouchWiz. That's an important part of the experience.
I saw June on engadget so likely less than a month after Europe. Biggest issue will be the quad vs dual core.
I have the Note also...the size is perfect. I remember when I first got the EVO and people were saying that the 4.3 inch screen was too big. Now no one even talks about the size of the EVO.
I really feel like 5.0" would be the exact right form-factor. It's the maximum size before it just starts to take up too much space in your pocket, but large enough that viewing documents and stuff on it isn't a total pain.
Is this another Android super phone the manufacturer will not support past release?
Verizon taking preorders for this on June 6. I'm guessing the 20th is the release date.
Now knowing what 1995 is like all over again! Thank you 247 technology!!
Do you think they will be in stores on the 20th as well?
