That's what it was.
I'll be damned. Verizon is pushing out 4.1 tomorrow.
Samsung Galaxy S III is the latest Verizon Wireless smartphone to be upgraded to Android 4.1, Jelly Bean. The software upgrade, which will be pushed to customers in phases starting Dec. 14, also makes the smartphone Global Ready. Customers who would like to manually download the upgrade through the settings menu will be able to within the next week.
That's gotta be a typo, either that or they mean Dec 14, 2013.

Verizon's support page claims that it's 62mb, which is utterly bizarrely small.
Bump. Anyone get it yet? Was kind of looking forward to checking it out this afternoon.
Nothing for me yet
I went to check updates, adn I got a replacement phone last night. 400.1 MB download in progress right now. Being in 4g, the download is less than 2 minutes.
edit - Meant to convey that last night when I turned on and activated a replacement phone, they didn't have the update, this is new.

Now knowing what 1995 is like all over again! Thank you 247 technology!!
Tried to check up for updates but it said no updates available.
Restarted my phone and it pushed through.
Downloaded and restarting now to install. Helllooooo Jelly Bean.
Same here, nothing this morning but just did a reboot and now it's available. I'll wait until I get home when I'm on wifi though.
Edit: Screw it, I get 2GB of data, I might as well use it. Downloading now.
It's awesome. So fast.
didn't get the update pushed to my phone. checked for a software update from settings>>device. bingo. downloading now.
Woot! We have Swype!
I'm 99% sure its always had swype.
Nope, before it was the shitty Samsung keyboard.
Btw, benchmark this morning was around 4850, now it is around 5300. Not sure what that means but it is faster. God, I love Swype.
Boring. Everything looks pretty much the same. Still no wifi toggle in notification bar. Seems slower. What the hell am I missing?
I have an S3 on Sprint and I had Swype even on ICS. You just have to change the keyboard input from T9 Trace (stock) to Swype. It was preloaded.
Got 4.1 last week for AT&T but now my internet connection seems very weak. Where I used to have lte or 4g, now I only get basic cell coverage (no E, no 3g, just bars). I can turn airplane mode on then off and I get the connection back.
Anyone else having this issue? I may have to reset the phone to clear everything but I don't feel like doing that.
nothing on sprint yet
Isn't there supposed to be a pretty good swiftkey clone?
Sweet, so it will tell me the traffic and weather without asking me, sweet, but all I really wanted was a wifi toggle in the notification area. Why is it so much to ask? Everybody else has it, why can't Verizon users get it too?
Verizon might have been different, I'm not sure. You can even read through this thread, it is something that was brought up by more people than me, or I just missed it for the last 6 months. Either way, I'm happy to have swype back.
Well Verizon wants you to go over your data limits so why would they limit the amount of data that is flying into your device? They can't make $ on people that stay under their data caps.
