I posted this way earlier so it got buried:
They are little tiny microchips inside of little stickers. They work with NFC and you can program them to do all sorts of awesome stuff just by waving the phone over them.I have one on my nightstand, when I put my phone on it, it automatically sets my alarm for the morning. I have one in the car to sync with my Bluetooth speaker and turn WIFI off to save battery. If you were in an office you could program your contact info in one and people could get your "card" by waving their phone at it.They can be programmed to change settings, launch programs, all sorts of stuff. They can be reprogrammed over and over or you can "lock" them. I'm just getting started playing with them but they are really cool.I saw some at an AT&T today but I think you might have to grab them online since they are so new.
This was the TecTile post I was referring to, haha. Guess it wasn't on an Android forum.
I read a similar post on androidforums.com. It would make sense that the alarm and turning wifi on/off when you come home/leave home are probably among the more common uses though, so it's not surprising if the same ideas are popping up in multiple places.
Picked one up today after some of the recommendations from all of you, and it is a great phone.
Quick question, does anyone know if it is possible to make the App icons smaller on the screen? I set the text size to 'Tiny', but the icons remain the same size; it would seem with such a large screen/resolution, they would make the icons smaller.
Why not save your money and use an ipod touch?
Why do you want them smaller, you never nude?
What is that, a Titleist? A hole in one...
Is there anyway to change the shortcut buttons at the bottom of the lock screen? Would like to get Chrome in there.
Settings ---> Security -----> Lock Screen options ---> Set Shortcuts on lock screen.
I see you can have 4.
edit - once in the screen, just hold down one app, at the bottom the garbage can appears, delete the shortcut then you will have a + popup and you can add it there.

Now knowing what 1995 is like all over again! Thank you 247 technology!!
Just got it today. Love it so far. So many features its going to take weeks to learn them all.
I'm curious as to how you can display what is on your phone on a tv.
There's a time and a place for everything and it's called college.
The easy way is to buy the HDMI dongle and connect it that way.
Allshare Play works wireless - obviously with the Samsung Smart TVs but I think you can do it with any networkable set... Not sure though. (edit: only Samsung Smart TVs - though I am sure they will release a dongle for any connected TV, or there will be a third party solution)

How has everyone's battery life been? After getting it last evening around 8:00 I killed it pretty quickly. I'm hoping with a full charge over night I can get a whole day out of it.
Mine has been very good. My old phone would die without using it in about 4 hours, with a new battery. This one with moderate use is around 80% by noon, which is very good. I no longer feel I need to have a charger with me at all times. Skyped with my sister the other night for about 45 minutes and used about 25 - 30% of the battery.
On another note, it has only taken me 9 days to go over 1gb with 4g. My usage is up from 3g.
I usually get a whole day out of it and I use it quite a bit throughout the day.
I'm pretty impressed so far. I'm on my phone a lot and I get a ton of use out of it. Also, it doesn't seem like the GPS kills the battery at all, like it did on my Samsung Charge.
I posted a screen shot a page or 2 back where I was at 15% after the phone being on for 1d 4h or something like that, with over 2 hours of screen on time.
I charge it once a day, usually while at my desk at work and it'll last until the next day and I'll have at least 40% left.
Battery is great for how many times I refresh tRCMB.

A lot of it revolves around Internet use too. Use WiFi when you can, and 4G where there's no WiFi. Having WiFi on and constantly searching for routers in public drains the battery. Power saving option helps too.
In 10 days I've used 1.5 gb of data. Streaming the British Open live on ESPN app (may have found a trick to that if you don't have one of the approved carriers) for 3 hours on Friday at work was awesome.
I really enjoy not worrying about how much data I'm using, but I can't imagine having to be paranoid with a 4g device of not going over 1 or 2 gb, and sharing that much data with someone. Its like this is legal mobster shit they are allowing these companies to run.
Question for you S3 users cause I'm fed up with searching for it: When I try to set a photo from my gallery as a contact photo, it brings me to a 'contacts' screen that is only composed of GMail contacts. I want to access ALL my contacts and it won't let me, and trying to edit individually from my contact list does nothing as you can't set photos from that screen; only phone numbers and email addresses. Help a brotha out because I'm just
Need some help. Can't get my phone to connect to my Mac. I download the program android said I needed but I can't find how to put my phone in Camera PTP Mode like it needs. The USB setting notification doesn't show up at the top.
Did you try going to Contacts, selecting contact, edit, touch the picture, should bring up with 2 options, Picture and Take picture, click Picture, and you should have options to choose Gallery.
Is that what you are looking for?
Anybody having problems with Swype?
I consider myself an experienced user of swype. I used it religiously on my Samsung Charge for over a year. I find that numerous words are impossible to swype or take multiple very slow and deliberate attempts to get correct. Which totally defeats the purpose of swype.
I am having the same problems. I will type a word perfectly and it won't even show up as one of the options. I had been using swype on my other phone for about 2 years so I am not just a beginner that hasn't figured out how to use it yet either. The swype has probably been the most frustrating part of the phone so far.
You downloaded it separately? Because the Samsung keyboard is their version of Swype. I just type on it instead of swiping the words.
Did they release Swype for the SG3? If so I can't find it, I know they have that predictive text and it works like swype, but it doesn't seem as good as swype.
