We don't need 9 Delmon Youngs batting tonight.
There's a time and a place for everything and it's called college.
Looks like a solid lineup. Glad Infante is at the bottom. Would love for the top to bunt and play small ball.
Speaking of Delmon, watching him K on a ball 3 feet outside again last night, made me wonder if there was a worse 2 strike hitter in baseball......well they would have to go some to match him. He's hitting .157 whenever he gets 2 strikes on him. Not 0-2 just 2 strikes in any count. Maybe that's why he swings at everything early.
By comparison Cabrera hits .232, Fielder .265 with 2 strikes.
Bats need to come alive
Drew is a damn good shortstop.
Yeah - play better dammit!
Cy Griffin cruising early.
Well, the pitch counters will be thrilled with that inning, what was it, 17?
Still no runs.
Anyone. Anyplace. Anytime.
Yeah but their Bullpen kicked our ass last night.
When the pitch looks like a strike until the last microsecond, it's pretty tough to hold up.
Those weren't typical curveballs. They were great pitches.
I was joking.
Their starters are only going to go 7 max anyway with that bullpen. Pitch count really doesn't matter much in this series against this team.
Guys can have their average inflated or deflated over a 162 game season. 18 games is nothing.
I'm getting real fucking sick of the A's outfield.
But ... but ... it looked easy from my couch.
The 2 hole hitters in this game are a joke.
I mean I'm not a pro but have played enough to be able to tell when a pitcher has a go to pitch. These guys are pros. I expect more from them.
Yoenis is a very good player.
They aren't built that way.
You can't play what you aren't built to do.
And they bunt as much as all but three teams in the AL. AL teams don't bunt. Not sure why people don't get this.
AL teams are built to hit doubles and home runs, other than the Angels, and for all their hype, the Angels haven't gone anyplace in 10 years.
Need Max to be big tonight.
The moment is eternal
Well, the pitcher is a pro, too. If he has a go-to pitch, it's probably a really good one.
They're facing pro pitchers. It's a lot harder than it looks.
Good pitching beats good hitting. It beats the living shit out of average hitting.
Did anyone else see the display Cespedes put on in batting practice at Comerica? He has some ridiculous power--he bounced one off the Newhouser statue in left center, and hit one to the opposite field that was about 3/4 of the way up the bleachers.
True. That's why I said taking the pitch isn't the worst thing in the world, especially when the go to pitch was consistently in the dirt.
I swear that there are some people that would rather watch the Royals play "small ball" over the last five years than the Tigers.
