Could Dawson redshirt next year?

What are the odds this happens? Don't ACLs usually take almost a full year to recover from, if you ever do recover?

With the quality surgery available nowadays, he should be good to go by next season if he's operated on immediately. No sense in redshirting in basketball with the limited roster spots.
Plenty of football players can do a full rehab over an offseason now, and I imagine the PT requirements for basketball are easier.

Modern Medicine has gotten ACL injury recovery down from the Year or more to around 6 months or so. He should be good for Midnight Madness, but this will hurt his development over the summer. He should be fine though

No and No. It might take a full year to get to 100%. However, he can play in 4-6 months. He just won't be going full tilt. Much like when Lucas came back he was not 100%, but Gary Harris will make up for it!

Seems like he is motivated to do his best in recovery. With him MSU is scary athletic next year.

Considering that many RCMBers have had this same surgery, it's pretty easy to predict recovery time. Obviously nobody knew for certain what the injury would be.

My daughter tore her acl and it took 6 months to get off crutches.
It took almost a year for her to get back to playing sports. She has never fully recovered a full range of motion.
I was told by her doctors this was because she was a redhhead. They have less flexable ligaments.

TIzzo said there is very little swelling and should have surgury in 2-3 weeks.

He was walking gingerly after the game. After surgery he will be mobile in 8 weeks runnng a short time later and playing soon thereafter.

She was on crutches for 6 months? For a normal ACL tear? Sounds fishy.

You can walk right after injuring your knee, the problem is the ligament is gone so your knee is loose.
You have to wait for the swelling to go down before you can have surgery to repair/replace the ligament.
I hear he has limited swelling so they can schedule the surgery quickly. After that it's all about the individual and how fast his new ligament heals and responds to movement.
