  • RG3 is an obvious bust candidate. I think Cousins will be the starter within 1 year.

Couple of things: RGIII won the Heisman. Let's not kid ourselves about his ability.

Let's not kid ourselves about how many Heisman winners have been busts in the NFL.

Yes but this wasn't some super offensive powerhouse. He did it at Baylor. Kid has ability. He's not Jrock or Weinke.

Andre Ware did it at Houston - Bust.

    Detmer - BYU - Bust

Doesn't include Charlie Ward, Gino Torretta, Troy Smith, Jason White, Matt Leinert, Eric Crouch, Chris Weinke, Danny Wuerfful all QB Heisman winners and busts at QB in the NFL.

  • Would be so awesome would it be if the skins drafted BJ in the 5th

  • Cousins is not as dynamic as RGIII, but he spent three years in a pro style offense and has consistently demonstrated he can make all the throws on the field. RGIII had some big highlight moments but played mostly in a dink and donk offense. I think Cousins could out-perform RGIII in pre-season, but the chasm between him and RGIII would have to be gigantic just for him to even get a sniff at being the starter.

    lol, ok.

Just that anyone should know the Heisman is a really poor predictor of a QB's NFL future. I think RGIII will be good, but you never know.

That said, his style of play will always be a problem. There will be fans that want a pro style QB from day 1.
I forgot who, but someone on ESPN just said that the backup QB's have to suppress their personalities and let the starter lead. I don't know if KC can do that.
Herm seems VERY concerned about this pick. I don't think he's given his thoughts yet.

Not saying RG3 won't be good but Toretta and Andre Ware won the Heisman. .

Sarcasm. I agree with you, heismans don't mean jack in the NFL

Yea - about as retarded as thinking that a two star QB would go beat out a 5 star QB, become a 3 year captain and the winningest QB in MSU history. Cousins is not going to just let RB3 beat him out. What, do you think Cousins isn't going to be popular in the locker room? I mean, we saw pretty much this exact situation at MSU, if you don't learn from history don't be surprised when it repeats itself.

Oh my God. You're serious? Rookie 4th round draft picks taking over NFL locker rooms? We arent talking about 18,19,20 year old kids he has to win over. We are talking about grown ass men making 10x as much as Kirk & have been in the NFL since Kirk was in middle school. I think Kirk can be a starter in this league for a long time but to say that he is going to win over the locker room as a rookie is down right retarded.

That is not impossible. I seem to be the only person in DC that doesn't think RGIII is a sure thing.

No you aren't. tSkins are antsy about QB capabilities and have been all over the place recently. Sure the ..ahem..conventional wisdom is that RGS3 is the savior but one thing they've lacked in that position is good headwork. If KC settles down he could be the guy.

Yea, it'll probably take a year or two. It's like a sophomore 2nd string QB being voted captain, it just isn't done.

  • Congrats to KC but I think this was an awful landing spot for him. He needed to go to an org with an older vet QB he could learn from and take over for. He just got drafted by a team that hopes its first pick is the face of its franchise for the next ten years. Not to mention the Skins are a mess with Snyder as owner. I wish him the best but don't his NFL career to really start moving until he gets through his rookie contract. Any opportunity he gets on the field, plus preseason games he needs to excel to get a better landing spot.

  • A lot of discussion and speculation from locals, including some tools, on the Cousins pick. Grossman is probably history and ditto for Beck who's outlived his usefulness, so this pick could be far more than just a half-assed trade opportunity that some of these idiots are suggesting.

  • Interesting comment that I read ... "Kirk Cousins is a cheap, smart, possibly ingenious insurance policy against franchise-crippling disaster."

    Sucks for Kirk though.
