lol i agonized over the choice between Celebration Ale and this earlier. I ended up going with ole reliable. How do you like the Anchor Brewing Christmas beer? I might have to stock up on something new on Friday or Saturday.

It's good. I'm a bigger fan of Celebration Ale but you won't be disappointed in Anchor Brewing Christmas.

Anyone else had a chance to try Founder's Bolt Cutter barley wine yet? Just found a bottle of it today and it is pretty damn good. $20 a deuce deuce but it is 15%.

Found a few bottled in Lansing. Going to get into one of the bottles this weekend. Very excited to try it.

I've never been disappointed in anything Anchor does. Such a good and consistent brewery.

Love Celebration Ale, might be my favorite beer from SN.

Back in Michigan for Thanksgiving. Sipping on a Bell's Midwestern Pale Ale right now. Going out to Horocks tomorrow to stock up and bring beer back to Texas.

Sounds like a great time....I didn't make it to any of those events. What did you think of the 12 BCBS? I got a four pack when it came out and I think aging would def. benefit them.

I've only had one '12 BCBS bottle so far (had one right away right when it came out). I liked it, but it is definitely strong with plenty of booze. I haven't been in a hurry to drink any more, and will probably wait at least a few months more. I'm going to age a few for up to 2-3 years.

If anyone is in Lincoln Park, quick run to Castle Vav, they're doing a raffle for a bunch of cellared GI stuff (BCBS of multiple years and variants including Rare, King Henry, etc). Drawing starts at 9:15

  • Anybody been to Eaglemonk over on the westside of Lansing? Thinking about checking it out while I'm home.

Managed to grab two bottles of BC Coffee Stout today, no luck on the Cherry Rye. Word is Warehouse Liquors on Wabash will be getting some next week. The Binny's right behind Goose Island in Lincoln Park today had a drawing similar to that, it was a mad house. One thing I didn't like was they would toss the stubs back in for everydrawing. One guy walked away with Bourbon County Rare Stout and Vanilla Stout. I think everyone there wanted to jump him.

  • FYI... Holiday Market in RO had about 7 bottles of Bolt Cutter left as of 4:30pm. They're not on the shelves.

  • SW Michigan gonna get any coffee Bourbon County? We usually never do, so whatever.

We were referencing the same event. I've been out of town all week so we'll see if I can get any Coffee or Cherry Rye next week (I kind of doubt it).

  • Went and checked out Eaglemonk in Lansing yesterday. Cool little pub, really good sandwiches. Their rye ale was ok, would have liked a little more rye flavor to it. The Delta Porter was great. Not too heavy but great flavors. Went to bdubs for the basketball game and had an Atwater Vanilla Java Porter, which I've always liked, and a Dirty Bastard. I can tell my tastes have changed, the first time I had it several years ago, I wasn't a fan.

Stopped at Horrocks and picked up some beers to bring back to Texas. I saw a sign saying something like they were authorized to sell beer before noon on Sundays. How does that work?

  • Just bought a bottle of Corsendonk Christmas Ale to have during the game. Waiting for it to chill. Anyone try this? Supposed to be very good.

Is there any kind of decent gluten free beers out there? Wife said we need to get a 6-pack for an uncle and I'd like to get the "best" and try one

I have no idea if it's any good, but you can find Red Bridge pretty much everywhere. Probably because it's an InBevAB product.

No they are all pretty bad according to a friend who has tried them all.

  • Bolt Cutter was decent but for the money I'd take Bell's Third Coast any day of the week.

Not bad stuff. I've heard REALLY good things about Bad Brewery in Mason.

  • I missed the Founders Anniversary Party last week as I was leaving for vacation... Just got back last night. I hope the Bolt Cutter is still on tap. I think it will be.

And I thought I just spent a lot today by finalizing an order for Surly Darkness, Surly Abrasive Ale, Deschutes Abyss, and Odell Myrcenary, and then found a GI Bourbon County Coffee and '12 Night Stalker today.

Got some Founders Breakfast Stout today (along with Pipeworks Standard Issue IPA and a bottle of Wookey Jack). Looking forward to that. Also got some FFF's ZesZesZes on Friday (was surprised to see that in the store, I thought it was only going to be avail at the brewery). I heard today that Goose Island's Bourbon County Stout will be released in the next 2 weeks. I'm really hoping I can get some, drink a bottle or two this year and save the rest.

    Breakfast stout is very good.

Bruco brought over some bourbon county stout the other weekend and gave me a bit. That is some strong shit both from an alcohol and flavor standpoint. Pretty good, but I couldn't drink more than one.

Wait...Night Stalker is already out ? Same label ? I love that beer. That is one hell of a haul. We are still waiting here in Texas for Deschutes Dissident and Abyss.
