Thanks for the Scotty Karate reminder, Bender. Currently sipping a NH Cabin Fever, but looking forward to decimating the xmas gift from my old MSU roomie who lives in PDX- the first installment of my beer club membership came today!! Dbl deuces of Elysian Winter Seasonal Ale, Laughing Dog ESB (both new to me), and Hopworks Union Abominable Winter Ale (had it when I was out there earlier this year and verrry tasty).

Rifle what time you headed to GR tomorrow? I'm heading to founders or hopcat after work for a growler fill. Also there's a new brewery downtown that just opened called brewery vivant. They only do Belgians.
There's a toilet in the kitchen!

I am not the largest Shorts fan, but I love Huma Lupa Licious. I can drink it all day every day, it's been my favorite IPA for a while now. I like Dark Horse as well, I spent a lot of time drinking $5 growlers of DH while I was at Albion.

We plan on leaving metro Detroit around noon. Assuming that goes off without a hitch, we should be at either Founders or Hop Cat by 3-4pm. Planning on being at one or the other for the majority of the evening. Want to do any trading? I have some fresh Pliny the Elder (12/13 bottle date) still here if you have any interest

If you guys can ever get your hands on Metropolitan Brewery beers from Chicago, I would recommend it.
Flywheel, Krankshaft and Dynamo are the beers they make. Tiny little brewery by my apartment and the owners are super cool. Definitely a small operation but it is great beer.

I have a 750mL of Santification, a 750mL of Temptation, 750mL of Consecration, and some 375s of each I believe.

I finally made the pilgrimage to Avery (while also stopping off at Asher, Boulder Beer Company, and Twisted Pine beforehand) last night. What a place. I thoroughly enjoyed The Reverend (that sounds a little weird writing that), a Belgian-style quadruple ale. The 2009 Beast (Grand Cru) was very good. The J-O IPA was like drinking liquid rosemary, though. We would have sampled more, but I already had a lot of other beer prior to Avery. The Twisted Pine Billie's Chilies was really interesting (the first chili beer I have ever tried), and the raspberry wheat was solid (though it is obviously a lighter beer). The nitro Obovoid (stout) at Boulder Beer was OK. Everything at Asher (small, organic brewery) was crap.

By-Tor said.... Picked up 2 sixes of Short's Freedom of '78. A guava infused IPA. Also excellent. Highly recommend if you are an IPA fan and you can find it.

Saw the Guava IPA at Dustys Cellar last week. Almost bought some, but chickened out. I'll need to give it a shot.

I see you like Black/Cascadian IPA's.....Kuhnhenn has Lunar Eclipse now which is a 11% dark ipa....wow it was good.

Just cracked a Short's Freedom of '78 guava infused IPA. I am by no means a huge Short's fan, but I must admit this is a pretty nice IPA.

I was impressed at first taste. Great backend finish to it as the hops kick in. I snagged another sixer tonight as I have a feeling they didn't make a ton of this.
