MSU deserves final ranking higher than Michigan's | The Detroit News | detroitnews.com

It seems like a legitimate question, really: Should Michigan State or Michigan be ranked higher in the final college football rankings that will come out Monday night after the BCS championship game?

I was hoping he'd bring up how Michigan looked like a bunch of trollfaces in their bowlgame against a weaker team.

The higher they finish this year, the higher they start next year, the higher they are when we beat them by 20 at the big house next year, the higher we finish at the end of the season.
Who cares about meaningless polls anyways. There are two polls that matter. Preseason and the last poll before bolls, that's it.

Anybody who argues that um should be higher is a homer moron. It's so inarguable, it doesn't even really bother me. Just makes the people putting them ahead of us look like fools, IMO.

I agree but a lot of the poll voters (particularly in the NE) are going to vote for MI regardless of what they did on the field because of MI's reputation.
I do agree that the only poll that matters is who is #1. If MI ends up ranked #10 to MSU's #11 I am not going to lose sleep over it.

Actually your example would be the only one that would bother me. You always hear about a team finishing the year "in the top ten", or about how many "top ten finishes" a program has in the last decade. Don't hear a lot about 11.

Alabama, LSU, OkState, Stanford, USC, Oregon, Arkansas, Boise St, South Carolina
The possible teams at #10 would be (current ranking shown):
#9 Wisconsin
#12 MSU

I'd be mad just for the fact the media hypes up the SEC so much. If we were to beat an SEC team and then not be rewarded that would be utterly ridiculous.

I just said the only rankings that matter are preseason and the last rankings before bowl selection. Did you not read my post at all? End of year polls don't mean crap other than #1.

this is a team that gave up 70 (that's seven zero) points to a big east team in their bowl game.
scUM easily had the softest team in any of the BCS conference bowls... Maybe one of most softest teams ever.
