Disagree with article's "dark rinse" preference. No matter the brand, they always look fresh off the pile at Walmart. Wouldn't be caught dead wearing them.
Double L classic fit are not high-waist...they're perfect.
But, never mind my opinion. Check out the 1744 reviews with almost a full 5 star rating.

Dude those are literally the definitions of dad jeans. Just throw on your penny loafers and maybe a nice mock turtleneck and you are ready for a night on the town! Just because 1744 dads like the jeans does not mean much.

I have two pair of L.L. Bean's. They are very durable. At 50+, I don't give a flying f if they look like dad jeans or not.

These are the brands I go with:
Diesel
7 for all mankind
Rock and Republic
Levi's
I'm 30, so I'm in the transition stage between the college jeans and the grown up jeans. All of the above have jeans that would be acceptable for middle aged men to wear. I wear my 7 jeans quite often with a slim fitted button up shirt, and it works quite well.

I buy Levi's 501s when they are on sale, they have 40% off sales on their website all the time. I still wear American Eagle jeans also though.

Yes, I agree with everything I wrote. You put your time in for the next better job. I work hard and I'm willing to out work the next guy. My post may have been polarizing but it is pretty factual. This thread makes me laugh because I just had this conversation with my 25 year old female co-worker who thinks she is editor of fashion digest. I just hit 40 so these are the rules she says I must now follow:
No untucked button up shirts.
No baggy clothes unless overweight
No jeans with a flashy pocket design
Tennis shoes with jeans only for running errands or other tasks such as yard work
No backward baseball hats
Needless to say I violate the above but I do laugh when I see a 50 year old dude in True Religion. I like Seven jeans but have several pair of Lucky.
