Damion Terry at Elite 11

  • Is Terry actually a running threat or is he black and the recruiting scouts are lazy?
I remember Jamarcus Russell and Xavier Lee being called dual-threat QBs.

  • I get the feeling he's like Devin Gardner in physical appearance but a better passer and not as fast.

Originally the Elite 11 picked what they thought were the top 11 QBs and invited them to camp. Now you go through regional competitions for the coveted final 11 spots. I think to make the final 11 is still a pretty prestigious thing. I think Maxwell was our last elite 11 finalist unless Boisture made it.

Yeah it was Maxwell, Cook was in the 24 or whatever it is but didn't place top 11.

Joe made it as well. Wikipedia Elite 11, its there, though apparently unlinkable.

Edit: It seems the unavailable link still works, whatever.

Is it just me or does the Elite 11 not mean what it used too?

Nothing means what it used to. Everything is hype. We live in a world of 247/365 TMI.

I think it is the MVP from each camp gets an invite, and maybe 1 more? And then after the camps they circle back and fill out the roster.

Makes sense. They get the real "Elite 11" guys from the MVPs then fill it with some guys they think could be and some guys for political reasons. I like it better when it was pure Elite 11, not taking anything away form Morris, because I think he would be selected. But it meant a lot more before they went to the 24. if I was a guy like Morris I might be pissed, because in the past it really was the best 11 guys. Now it is watered down and the top 11 get lumped in with all of them.

I'll take it from that downvote that it's "black."

  • Tweeted Allen Trieu asking if Terry has a shot at an invite, his response.

    Allen Trieu ‏ @AllenTrieu
@DMBSparty I think he has a shot. There were several that are real close to that spot though so it's not for sure but he's in contention

That's O'Connor. Cook had a good shot of qualifying for the Elite 11, but went to an MSU camp instead of a regional Elite 11 camp to qualify. Said that he'd rather work with the coaches and future teammates.

  • Want Morris to start as a true freshman and Gholston to stay for his senior year.

    Morris Chowder

Morris sounds like a Beano Cook 4 year Heisman prediction

  • The elite 11 camp is overrated anyway I'd rather guys like Cook want to get work with future teammates and coaches than compete at a camp that will have no bearing on his career.

Being called a sunshine blower is not insulting to me and I'm proud to be one.

Well, have you bothered watching the tape? The kid has some wheels. Most schools were recruiting him as a WR.

Man I am getting all these QB's confused. The last QB I have been super hyped on was Maxwell. Doesn't take away form Cook or O'Connor, I just remember being pumped about Maxwell and I still am, can't wait to see him play.

    No I haven't. That's why I asked.

  • Good news, Maxwell was an elite 11 and did pretty good.

Hope he crushes our expectations for next year. We all say...he is following Captain Kirk.

I say, if he wasn't following CK, he would have been all Big Ten.

As we look to the elite 11 remember Maxwell was one of them, I am excited to see what he will do next year. I think that is one of the reasons Coach D was as light hearted as he was during the spring game.

After all that I like Mr. Terry

  • Is Elite 11 a cool honor? Sure. But honestly, who cares. At best, Terry won't be stepping on the field until 2014 as a redshift freshman, and even that is unlikely. More likely, he will be competing to start in fucking fall of 2016. That is four fucking years of additional development, so consider me someone who doesn't give a shit about how Terry did on a Spring afternoon in 2012! Let's keep some perspective before we go jerking these kids off, whether it's Shanevoir or Terry.

At this point, it looks like he has good size, athleticism and arm strength, at least adequate for the B10. Now he has four years to prepare himself. And some dumbass Elite 24--er, Elite 11--isn't going to change a damn thing. Plus, Dilfer comes across as a douche, so I wouldn't mind keeping Terry away from him in case he's contagious.

  • This Shane Morris character stars at everything he does apparently (including Twitter) and owns every camp, even the ones he doesn't attend. He's becoming the modern day Bill Brasky. All I can say is, the dude better be the second coming of christ and win every game he plays, or I will feel supremely let down.

I heard Shane Morris had a good day.

That would make sense considering there wasn't any defense. I heard when you throw a high school defense on the field he cannot even hit half his passes.

He'll end up splitting time at Michigan and his backup will go on to win 2 superbowls.

But I hear the Yankees are interested. Or maybe that was Rice by way of a Marcus Hyde induced dream. Or maybe that was San Diego State by way of a hotel balcony. Or maybe his first start at the big house will come when he is playing left tackle at Western. Or he maybe he will stick, finally seeing first string reps in his fourth year while rocking a bare midriff to show off his newly "sculpted" body rather than hiding it underneath a shirt with a picture of him shucking some 190 pound lineman at a high school combine. Or maybe he'll wake up at that Grand Rapids intersection just in time to get a couple goalline carries at fullback his senior year.

    Did I forget anyone?

  • FWIW, just read a Scout update on the Elite 11.

All had Morris as the top performer and most accurate. Damion Terry was in the top 5 on 3 of the 4 top fives.

There is also a chance he could end up as a WR at some point in his career as well. He has Cook and O Connor ahead of him and what if we land a stud pro style guy like Stewart in the class behind him? The competition will get very tough.

You forgot that maybe his teammates might hate him so much that they end his career on purpose during a practice by blowing out his knee so bad that some people vomit at the sight of his injury.
