Damm...I'm interested in the NBA again

    I'm shocked

I thought Ray had more class and loyalty than that

How can the Heat afford all these players?

    Here is what happened:

"He hated the way Ainge dangled him in trade talks, hated that the Celtics told him he was on his way to Memphis in a deal at the March deadline only to have Rivers later tell him the trade was dead. Allen hated that Rivers didn’t give him his starting job back after he returned from a late-season ankle injury, and hated that it always felt like he was the Celtics star made to sacrifice above the rest."

  • DHoward has everybody fooled. His image is well crafted. He probably is a nice guy but he isn't a Tim Tebow. Howard has 5 kids by five different women. He is only a few kids away from being Antonio Cromartie.

Loyalty. lol He was part of the original "big 3" that did pretty much the same thing as the Heat guys, just without the media circus around them. Loyalty hasn't existed in pro sports for a long time.

Not sure what's classless about signing with a different team either.

    Completely different situations

Danny Ainge traded for Ray and KG

They didn't decide to join forces like the Heat did

  • Rondo apparently was the reason ray allen left for the heat:

"For all the past indignities – real or imagined – Rondo was the issue that hadn’t gone away, that would still be there come training camp. They don’t like each other, and it had become a bigger and bigger drag on Allen, sources said. Each had culpability for why things had gone awry, and yet each was better on the court because he had played with the other.Rondo has had a polarizing impact within the Celtics' locker room, and his relationships with teammates and coaches have fluctuated over the years. Allen and Rondo never had arguments this year, never got into it. In fact, one source said: "Ray mostly ignored him." After the season, Rivers tried his best to mend the relationship between Rondo and Allen – make it manageable on some level. And yet, as one source with direct knowledge of the coach’s efforts said, the relationship was "too far gone.""

I also have been sucked back in to the NBA. Haven't really watched since '05 besides this season. The Heat/Celtics and Heat/Thunder dynamic has been fun to watch. Should make it interesting with Ray Allen going to the Heat and now Nash going to the Lakers out west.

Old relics pulling the Barkley move. Hope it backfires.
Then again, its the NBA and my level of 'care' is just above nonexistent.

I would not say the KG trade was any different than what the players did. There was a deal in place for KG to go to the Lakers. At the 11th hour McHale hooked his ex teammate up with KG instead of LA. Phil Jackson has stated publicly on several occasions that he was shocked KG ended up in Boston, for all Phil knew KG was going to be a Laker.

Plus... howard has this back thing and he's a primadonna who... even though a seemingly good christian guy, creates more drama than necessary. I've never been impressed with Howard's motor. It feels like the dude should be more dominant offensively than he's been, but he gets in a ton of foul trouble. Dude is a monster on the glass, but I think Ibaka and Harden are good investments over the long haul... the only question is whether or not they can keep Harden, Durant, and Westbrook...

I don't think his motor is the issue. He's a true athlete, not a trure hooper. His offensive game is suspect.

What's classy or unclassy about signing a free agent contract?

Perhaps his loyalty went out the door while he was being shopped around all last season. shrug

  • the heat at it again....

Camby was scheduled to meet with the Heat on Saturday and the Knicks on Sunday. If Riley cannot swing a sign-and-trade with Houston the best he can offer Camby is the veteran's minimum of about $1.4 million, less than half of what the Knicks could offer via a sign-and-trade or the mid-level.

The Heat are scheduled to host veteran power forward Rashard Lewis on Sunday, who recently was bought out by the New Orleans Hornets. It's over already if they are healthy at playoff time. Ray Allen will be feasting off open 3 point looks. Remember all the looks Battier, Chalmers and Miller had?

  • Am I reading right that if the pistons amnesty CV and don't pick up options on scrubs they could have a LOT of cap space next summer? Can someone in the know clarify?

Yes, but it looks like everyone will be taking mid level exception to play for the miami heat, I am kidding... No seriously though, the way miami is going they will win the next 5 NBA titles. But, the pistons will have a ton of cap space after next season

I agree that dwight howard is a Tim tebow Christian athlete. However, howard, durant and westbrook are the only 3 players in nba that can compete with wade, Lebron, and bosh.

other than the 2 kids out of wedlock, sure.

EDIT: just saw the article posted above saying 5. Somehow I doubt a few of those chicks are legit but 2 are confirmed.

So what do they do with the money? Looked at players and they should be able to sign a few guys without breaking the bank, just not sure who the best fits are.
